Minimum rifle/barrel length

Reading the above email from the police referencing the law sounds to me that if you buy a gun from factory the barrel length can be anything so long as the length stays over 75cm.

Qld is the same. Under 75cm is a cat H unless deemed a C/D and everything over is a A/B.

Rather simple.

Yes they do, my OP is 750mm OAL and has a 355mm (14") barrel.

Is it a .223? I wonder why they went so short.

It's chambered in 350 Legend, was my choice to settle on 14", glad i did.

Here is the reply I got. Pretty generic and basically straight out of the rule book. Didn’t exactly answer my question, but I think that a short factory barrel is ok, but a shortened barrel to less than 50cm is a no.

A bit contradictory.
So, would it be legal to buy a rifle from QLD with a gunsmith shortened barrel to under the 500mm but still over 750mm in total length?

Cleavers had a 12 gauge lever for sale not that long ago like that. But it was a cat H because it was under 75cm. I wanted to buy it but had no money at the time.

A 12 gauge pistol lever action would be cool for shooting steel.

I got a pistol grip to fit on my Rem 870 Marine pump shotty from Cleavers... it has a 5-shot mag and a short cylinder barrel, and originally has a 4-shots-extra Speed-Feed stock because it was a left over from a Custom's illegal boat boarding gun order.
I was told that Cat C has no length stated as has been said in this thread already, so it was quite legal for me to fit. It does not turn a Cat C into a H. Don't know where that came from but I'm not surprised.
Basically, it turned it into one of those "Mares Legs".
Anyway it was f'ing useless, slow and imprecise to get a bead on anything but a fools ego and took 5x longer to recover from recoil and get a decent bead.
It wears a Magpul 870 buttstock now and I ditched the awful Speed-Feed. No idea where the pistol grip ended up either.
