ADI powder update

I dont have one sorry, just wondered if AR2205 was still on the way or in stores anywhere?

Also has anyone tried the new APS650 and APS950 yet?

I bought some APS950 but havent tried it yet, apparently close to the old API 100 in burn rate, which is a bit faster than Blue dot. So it would be capable of decent power loads in magnum pistol cartridges as well. Not full house, but still workable for reloaders to hit pigs etc.

Yeah I'm after 2205 as well. Full power 44 mag pistol loads.
Some say it left unburned powder behind in 357's and 44's, but it didn't for me.
I used to like Win 296, but nobody cares about us anymore and doesn't import this great stuff. 748, 760, WXR.

Yeah mate, I just called Noia customer service today to see what Alliant they have left. A couple of rifle powers only. AR Comp, Pro Shooter or something, obscure stuff at least to my thinking. I asked when a new shipment of Alliant might be incoming and she said no idea.

BTW seeing you are in QLD did you know you can buy Vihta powders at Noose shooters? Expensive but N110 is similar power or more than Ar2205, not far off H110/Win 296 speeds. Better than Alliant 2400 for comparison.

I'll be loading my 454 casull up with it soon.

Thanks for that, I haven't used that brand but if I can get some I will.
My parents live on Bribie Island, it's a 5hr drive to get there, Noosa would be a real bugger for powder. But I will enquire to see if there is some of that closer. I'd imagine that if there was, it would be in high demand. The local gunshops just tell me, "Can't get any, costs too much to get it here"

Doubtful anyone else has it in qld, the Noosa bloke had serious stock levels when I went in there though. Almost looked like he was importing it.He has ads on usedguns usually.

DG isnt the problem. The army, mines and every other business moving around explosives, propellants, high level oxidizers etc have no problem getting things shipped. There are trucks moving through towns every day with tanks and containers full of stuff that make little old 1.4 ammo look like charcoal;. I was in international logistics and moved stuff for aeronautical research from the Brisbane docks to remote research test areas and I had a dozen carriers lining up to do every move. The idea no one can move ammo or powder which is way down the list for public hazard is nothing but political pressure mate.

My local gunshops reckon... that the importers have said that we can't get bugger all of anything other than the mismanaged ADI powders even though they are available elsewhere in the world... because it costs too much to get it to our shores, and shooters won't pay for it.
Funny though, how our ADI powders are sent to the states (to our detriment) and sold under different brand names and the prices there are quite reasonable.

I've been wondering about the AR2205 too, seems like it's been out of stock everywhere for ages. As for the APS950, that's interesting about it being close to API 100. I might have to pick some up and give it a try in my .357 mag.

Although I agree the charges are way too high. (I think mainly due to insurance costs)
Gunpowder, ammo etc are considered DG throughout the world.

I have used APS950 in 9mm shooting 115gr and 124gr jacketed and 125gr cast
I loaded up ladders, found most accurate was max load, towards bottom to mid i was getting unburnt powder

I loaded for 38 special with 125gr and 158gr - both excellent accuracy - both at max produced best accuracy.

Surprisingly the most accurate load to date with the 38 special was AR2205 at max load - soft shooting, unburnt powder, but very accurate.

I am liking the way aps950 meters, very consistently.

So far so good.

Also when I tried APS350 - (which isnt ideal for either) it was very soft shooting, but - for me - didnt meter as well. Could be the equipment not sure there just stating what I observed. And not metering perfect when there's only 0.3gr from min charge to max charge isnt fun. Im a full case kinda guy (maybe except for my 6.5-300wby )

Tried APS950 in 38spl. (158 grn SWC) Burns too slow. Got far better results using Trailboss and Vihtavouri N320. Won't waste my time on 950, but in saying that if that powder works for you then good luck to you.

Just wanted to ask you about AR2205 in your 17 Hornet.
I tried it, it works and isn't too bad with accuracy out to 200 meters.
I chrono-graphed the load and it's about 200 fps slower than the Hornady Superformance stuff (I expected it to be slower).
I am using Hornady 20gr V-max projectiles, Remington seven and a half small rifle bench rest primers, Hornady brass.
How did you go loading for it.
