Politicians in general

Post by Die Judicii » 28 Feb 2025, 9:40 pm

First up, I'm NOT advocating any leanings, preferences, likes or dislikes.

But here's something to ponder.

Most if not all politicians would like the general public to think that they are,,,, Wise, Educated, Thrifty, Smart, Know how to run the country, Have good business sense, Know what's safe for us all and the country, Good organisers,,,,,,, and a nice person, not to mention trustworthy.

Now if that were truly the case, wouldn't they ALL belong to just one single party alone ???
Negating all others.

Biggest problem with this theory is that most politicians, at least the ones that climb to the top, are all narcissists.
Looking at the people that are elected as our "Leaders", are all that type of people... you tell me if I'm being unfair.

Look up the true meaning of the word narcissist.
Everyone other than them exists only to fuel their own need for self-importance and self-appraisal, and that no matter what evidence there is to the contrary, whatever they think, say or do is what everyone else needs. And they are very clever in manipulating everyone else with their version of reality, and it's always for their own success and power, and NEVER for the greater good.

They are emotional vampires and will latch onto whatever base-political theorem allows them to justify, and enact, their own personal success. And when you really look into them and them personally, you will see a physically weak, pathetic example of the human species.

So that's why, initially, they come from a particular political set of roots, they are only using that set to further their own need for power and control. The basis of their true politics doesn't matter in the end.

I think term limits are in order.

I believe many do go into it with great intentions but after they've been there for a while, the trappings, the power, the access to other people's money, it's just human behavior that people fall into that trap and then it becomes not about us but about them.

It used to be in the USA until World War 1 that Representatives in the House would serve one or two terms and then go back to the farm or family business. People would serve on average for about 3 years.

Especially in the post WW2 era a professional political class developed and now people are in there for 50-60 years in some cases and some have never had a "real job" so they have no connection with the real world.

I believe that you are well ahead of us, Wanneroo, you have had three generals that ended up as president. Washington, Grant and Eisenhower. All we have had is a steady stream of toxic wankers that ended up as prime ministers.

Reminds me of an old saying from way back.
Politicians are like Bananas
They start out green and straight and end up yellow and bent.

50 years ago our politicians mostly came from business/legal backgrounds and, IMHO, cared about Australia and its future.
Unfortunately now, regardless of the party, they come from high school to university to a politicians office from their preferred party. Then they spend a couple of years learning the "party" interactions, then are nominated for a marginal seat that they are unlikely to get elected in.

If they are successful hooray they are on the gravy train, if not they try again next election.

But regardless they are focused solely on enough votes to keep them (and their party) on the gravy train and don't give a flying f*** for the constituents or Australia and its future.

And the Australian people love it because it has the highest rate of civil obedience and political laziness in the western world.

But we cannot forget, we vote them in where they are, to do the damage they do.
