Ruger M77 358 Win Hawkeye 2.0

Its no secret that Ruger make a great rifle in the M77 series and I've been a fan for years as they are generally good shooters, lots of steel and can handle pretty much anything you throw at them. What I don't like is the weight, they are a bit chubby in the hand with the bottom metal/trigger guard and tupperware stocks weighing a fair bit more than most other rifle. Anyway I lucked onto a Ruger Gunsite scout stock with the Nylon bottom metal set up that takes the AICS style mags. End result the rifle dropped 300gm in weight and tips the scales at 6lbs 12oz.

me personally , weight can be your friend . i'm steadier with offhand shots and it can help with recoil . try 225 sierra game kings in your 358 . flattens stuff under 150 meters with reasonable energy out to 250 . good score, nice rifle

Hey bigrich some weight is good but i reckon once this is scoped it will be perfect, the laminate has got a thicker forend which is a good thing. 180gr OEP for this rifle

with that projectile weight try BM2 or 2206H

I reckon BM2 is worth trying I did look at 2206H but I'm not sure it burn rate is quick enough. I tried some 2219 at the same time as 2219 but it fell short when the case was full, 2207 seems to be the powder as it burns pretty good in only a 19 inch barrel.

nice gun Billo,The laminate and metal really go well together. Huge fan of the 358, never owned one but I reckon if I was a safari hunter in the day Id be one of the blokes running a mid bore for everything. Can carry a lot of ammo and shoot anything with it. I'd just lose that contraption on the end with the collander for straining small veges or something ? Just kidding, not a fan of brakes but I know they are effective.

Hey mickb the cheese grater on the end of the barrel is for thermaling and range duties, YES I will be thermaling with this contraption shortly just waiting on some more projectiles
