Formula for matching accurate loads to rifles

Hi guys,

Like has been said thousands of times, each rifle will have particular loads it likes, but there has to be some rhyme and reason to this.

It's physics after all, not magic.

I'm not saying I've got the knowledge to work it out or that it would be easy , but there must be some formula to bullet weight, load and barrel twist and so on.

Anyone know of such thing, even it it's only a start?

The "and so on" is where this falls over.

The amount of possible combinations you'd be looking at would be something more like this:

Barrel length X twist X velocity X barrel weight X stock config X rifle weight X powder type X bullet weight X bullet Ogive X bullet sectional density

Lets say there were 5 of each of the things I listed above, there would be 9,765,625 possible combinations

Obviously there are more than 5 types of each of those things. Between all that (and no doubt more) options, there would be billions of combinations that would require testing.

barrel twist / projectile weight ratio is indeed important. This ratio is impotrant for projectile stability. The formula is, Twist per 10" times barrel length, divide by 10. to the power of your velocity in FPS. divided by the CAL, minus the size of your socks.
