advice on taxidermist

Post by Ricky » 10 Apr 2025, 7:05 am

G’day,

back in 2023 I had an awesome DIY hunting adventure in Victoria’s Alpine National Park and surrounding State Forests.

I dropped off a few heads at Mount N Hide Taxidermy in Stratford, asking for euro mounts. They were supposed to be ready for shipping in February 2024. As of now (14 months after the original due date), nothing has happened and the taxidermist is even unable to give me an estimate on when to expect them to be ready.

Over the course of the past 14 months, the taxidermist came up with all sorts of excuses. It’s hard for me to tell how genuine they are. At least some most likely are. Anyhow, I have been understanding for a long time, but my patience is fading.

Also, their website is down.
https://mountnhide.com.au/

And Google Maps is now listing their business as “permanently closed”.
https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/Mo ... FQAw%3D%3D

However, they are telling me that they are working normally. So again, I don’t know if I should believe them.

Does anyone on the forum know anything about that taxidermist? I live in Europe, so I cannot just go there and check for myself.

Any information or help would be much appreciated!

Maybe you'll find your heads hanging in a bar or high-end hunting lodge some day, sold to the highest bidder.
I always wondered where they came from. So many rumours.

Not funny. Bloke is from overseas and has been waiting 2 years for some basic mounts.

Hey, great tip mate. There are some troublemakers out here atm and would look great hanging in the men's room. (not that kind of men's room, the kind with the leather lounges, the gun safes and the G&T)

Yeah, man cave. Sheilas allowed too.
The G&T is my drink now, but not without company. Gave the beer a flick unless it's donated...
That number would be very much appreciated, thanks for the offer!

Do you know if he'd be willing to do euro mounts? If yes, would you mind sharing his contact details?

Thanks Big Rich.
That info's up on the office whiteboard, I never know when this would be needed and he'd be only 3+ hours from me to drop off so how good's that!

I'm a mad keen Red deer breeder, as well as other breeds so you can imagine I'm busting to see a pic of your stag's mount.
They're bellowing and carrying on just outside right now, makes me feel it's worth all the effort.
If you can open the pic on your PC with Windows, there's an option on the upper left corner to resize the pics to under 700mb. It's the only way I know how to do it.
