Shooters be like shooters, fight to the death but just against each other.

Suggest fighting against those that are going to take our guns and the same Fudds will take you down.

It's too late for shooters as can be seen from all the forums, that will die a slow death.
I just hope that other outdoor rec people get together and fight to keep access.

Back when I started on forums about 25 years ago, I used to get involved in some bitter back and forths with people and at some point along the way I realized the days are long but the decades are short, life goes by fast and you have to decide where to allocate your energy and resources like time. It's good fun to debate people but there is no point taking it personally and putting my energy to where I am getting emotionally worked up over it. In the end the sands of time trickle away and no one will care in 40 years I had a big bitter argument with someone on a forum online. And also people are going to do what they want anyways, so who really cares that much?

Periodically I get tirades on Youtube from people angry with me that I do things differently than them or have a different opinion. So I always make it clear now that all I can say is what worked for me or what didn't or what I liked or did not and your mileage may vary. I'm not in the advice business or telling people how to live their life.

F**k me, I take a break to do some actually related to shooting, and look what happens.

Just ignore the bloke, he's obviously got some sort of issue. Who knows, when off the ekkys he's probably a nice fella. I do know for a fact, face to face it would quickly stop.

Don't give the bloke oxygen. Stop replying to his posts. You wont win an internet fight with a troll. Hes just baiting you and you all take the bait and it gives him oxygen. It's the only way the losers get some attention in their pitiful lives. Like the screaming ADHD kid reaching for the chokkies when mum's going through the checkout, if you ignore it, it eventually throws itself in front of a bus.

Who knows, 5.0 Might contribute a post, some pics, even show us hes really a shooter. If he does, support him because everyone has a crap (few days) on the tabs. We'll maybe not.

Not all bad. More posts, more views, all helping the site with the stats!

yeah okay , i weakened and read 50's last post . curiosity got the better of me

the thing that worries me is this idiots behaviour and he's a gun owner .

supposedly :unknown:

given the topic of this post, he's definitely been the worst example of a troll i've ever seen on here . what sort of f@ckwit gets off on that ?

conspiracy theory , is the guy a fed trying to aggravate firearm owners into making online threats ? if it's true that the guys used AI for responses , and given the custom meme he posted , at the very least that's very advanced computer skills . far beyond my capabilities . "50" is also slang for cops in the USA . he must really like "starsky and hutch" , or maybe it's a personal joke . probably just a flight of fancy on my part, but in this modern world anything is possible

i'm old school , i don't say anything online that i wouldn't say to someone in person . it just boggles my mind that people can carry on like that . sad example of modern society .

As we have found on gun forums in the USA, there are anti gun agitators that will join forums to just to stir the pot. In some cases these folks are even paid by anti gun groups to be paid trolls.

The main thing to look for is they never post about their guns or what they are doing with them such as reloading, target shooting, hunting, etc. Or if they do post, it's a token type post to cover up their true activities. They basically spend their whole time agitating until they get the ban hammer or people ignore them.

funny you should say that . following OB's lead , i checked our recent trolls post history and very few posts about firearms , none about hunting . the majority of this characters posts were political opinions :problem:

there's been some years ago , that were real sus . feds or anti's i thought . with the rise of "right wing" groups these days (which if you voice some opinions openly puts you in that group ), feds are monitoring firearm/hunting websites i've no doubt . maybe our troll was trying to push someone to the point of making threats ? i'm not a fan of this modern world . i think i was born 50 years too late ;)

You think this forum is bad......you should have seen the forum called Ozdeer....that was a major battleground.....some of the crap that went on there was just unbelievable.....ended up getting shut down due to threats of legal action i believe......Another forum about to bite the dust is Aushunt.....getting shut down the end of June......mainly due to lack of interest.....only a few main contributors....forums are a thing of the past since FB groups.....Im an Admin on ASGH,There were quite a few trouble makers there at the start but they were quickly moved on.....we keep a pretty close eye on what happens on our group and nip things in the butt before they escalate......We encourage debate.....but abuse is out....

thanks for the insight into other firearms/hunting social media . myself, i don't trust anything to do with facebook . i believe the near total lack of accountability and extreme disrespect people get away with online is eroding our society's morales and principles . if people treated me in person to what they get away with online they'd be in for a rude shock ;) . enough gun is the only social media i do , there are a lot of good fellas on here , used to be quite a few more

Yep… on all pages, groups and forums there are more good fellas than bad…what people follow is entirely up to themselves… bad behaviour and abuse on forums largely comes from piss poor moderating by admin… lots of those good blokes and top contributors leave because of the crap from keyboard warriors, hence the demise of what was a great meeting place for like minded people…Without those contributing, a forum is nothing….

like wanneroo has said lots of the forums here in the states have lots of trolls I do like it here the forum does have a good group and when some one comes in to be a troll they seem to get run off.
once in a while things can get mixed up rather fast but it gets under control i try to stay out of the politics here because I don't live there and its not fair for me to comment we have our own problems in the states.
There are forums I just don't like going to because of all the drama and fighting when I do reach out here and ask about some thing I do get a reply and they don't tend to be rude.

I have a completely different opinion now why the great people that have really benefited this forum have left.
3 people now have contacted me and told me of great members from here who have either left, or stopped contributing.
They all say its because of the same member. They all have different nicknames for him but all describe a serial know-it-all that spreads himself across other forums and does the same.
They've all said the same thing about lively disagreements on here, they couldn't care less about that. They just make their points with facts when they call out some BS. And they could spot this BS alright.
This isn't a moderation failure at all, how can you stop a serial pest that plays the victim everytime he's called out.
And looking back at what these ex-members did post, it's a huge loss. And a real shame that great contributors just said, screw this, because of one know-it-all that doesn't really contribute at all.

We can handle ourselves boss.

We would have torn him to shreds.

You have to let them blow steam for a while first then then you have the knowledge then you have the power.

I cut him . I know it. He’s been psychoanalysed before. I got into his head.

It's no bother.

Happy to intervene when someone is doing something stupid, e.g. the earlier poster saying they were just generating replies from ChatGPT and posting them for people to argue about

That kind of juvenile nonsense has no place here, and the delete or ban buttons are just a click away ;)

Report it, and it'll get sorted.
