how to build a rifle?

How would one buy an action and barrel, take it to a gun smith and have it chambered legally?

Do you need two PTA's one for a major component and one for the chambering or how does this work? Do I need a PTA to buy an action?

Looking at a defiant action, can I just order it pay and it arrives or what's the deal?

All the people i know have done is buy an action from seddo in Trafalgar but this was years ago then had it delivered to a gunsmith or in my case buy a rifle on line which you can do in Victoria have it sent to the gunsmith have the factory barrel ripped out and then spin up the new barrel and fit it .
other than that you would have to talk to somebody who Imports the action submit paperwork get a PTA and buy it and sent to your gun shop run through there book and then you deliver it to a gunsmith , in Victoria a barrel from any manufacturer can be delivered to your door because it's just the pipe

What are you trying to build firstly, whats the intended use ?

Plenty of gunsmiths to be avoid and plenty to be recommended if they are willing to take on new work, time permitting....

I can get the barrel, stock and bottom bracket delivered to my door, thats the easy part but buying an action is a bit strange to me as the bolt is restricted but the action is not, if I click buy here: https://aprsrifles.com.au/collections/a ... -magnum-ss

do I get in trouble or? can't find any laws around it

When I built my AR the lower was registered as the firearm and required the PTA and the upper whilst being a major component only required I provide my licence no PTA required.
