Need new rifle bag

Check out Aussie Outback Supplies.
I bought one of their big rectangular bags to easily fit my thermal rifle, it’s pretty bulky, but they have other designs.
Not cheap, but the best bag I have seen.

Cant help you with supplier, but my experience is to avoid Cordura bags, as UV/Summer heat causes them to fall apart.
I have a number of Cordura rifle bags here, that you can rip the tabs/sling points off in a cloud of plastic dust..

Talk to a local saddler, and see if he can make something up using canvas out with padding inside?
Anyone catering for Horthey-Horthey people usually have someone who can stitch up canvas gear.

Can always put a short rifle in a long bag but vice versa just dose’nt fit. As a rule.

Spika premium is hard to pass up on price, but not locally manufactured.

Aussie outback supplies could really eat a big hole in my wallet. So much great stuff.
But yep that rectangular one is a winner. And in the mail.

Dose’nt look like a rifle bag on the back seat. Happy to pay that for that. And a violin case would cost more again.

Could probably fit two if you wrapped one separately.

I reckon that price is ok for a good quality product, that will last a long time. I have a cheaper one that has had very little use, and it falling apart due to age. Cheap is often not the best value.

Supercheap sell a line of hard, waterproof, foam lined, cases that are ideal for rifle storage / carriage. After starting with Pelican, and then finding the ToolPro from Supercheap, there's no going back. I've witnessed airline baggage handlers do their best to "take care of them" and they didn't succeed. Good enough for me!

I’ve also got the Toolpro Supercheap hard case and it is excellent. For airline baggage.

But that’s not the need I was trying to fill here.

When I travel by vehicle here I have to leave the firearm in the vehicle. That’s just the law. At a caravan park or a motel or campsite etc.
Or anytime I have to leave the vehicle unattended. Can’t lock the dog in the vehicle either because it will be a crispy fried dog.

And finally I get to my point.
If your car gets broken into and it’s full of gear what will get taken by someone likely on foot who can carry a limited amount.
And the answer is anything in a convenient carry locked hardcase. Because whatever is in that is valuable.
For all appearances it’s a portable safe.

So yep i don’t use them. You have to think like a sneaky thief when you consider your security.

And a soft bag is always easier to make less visible or fit in a less visible space.

There is another advantage of the soft case in particularly dodgy areas. You can feed a cable lock through the action and lock the firearm to the vehicle whist still using the soft case.

There are other steps you can take too. But I can’t really post them on a public forum.

You don’t have to take steps beyond and above the legal requirements. But the hassle of dealing with a stolen firearm is to be avoided.
And anything I can do to ensure a thief learns a hard lesson , well I’m doing it, because I hate thieves and i won’t pass up any opportunity to cause them considerable grief.

The Spika stuff is good quality too though. They have a well established brand to protect.

I have a hard case too, and it has its purpose. Nice and stroing for when that is needed, but bulky and would easily rub/damage anything it was packed with. Enter the soft gun bag, which fits on the back seat with clothes bags and pillows etc. Perfect.

You think thats slow. Try USPS. Bought some stuff from Buffalo Arms. Posted 14 May. Left California 17th . In Canada 18th to 30th. Back to California 6th June. Still in Bell Gardens California and LA Distribution centre 18th June. Lost track of it now and no more info.

Well, that Friday came and went and I felt a bit sad. Indeed for the following week I wasn’t myself.

Although, people did ask if I wanted to talk about it. I remained steadfastly sullen and just glared at them until they left me alone.

But then, to my surprise, apon my arrival home yesterday, a big fat package on my doorstep.

How quickly I forgot my misery, Overcome with a flood of emotions, an unbridled joy. I could see colours again. I could see the beauty in the world again , the flowers and the sunset and other gay stuff.

And so I got my bag . It’s very nice. It’s huge. Easy two guns maybe three. With a pocket on the front for one more. You just never know when you might need four. Literally never but peace of mind anyway.

Heavy duty. Big fat zippers for big fat fingers. The handles are made from seat belt material.
Canvas exterior, soft fuzzy inner lining. But the padding is a bit extra special. I’m pretty sure this is memory foam.
Built to last and easy to pack in with other gear discretely. Little Aussie flag proudly made.

Exactly what I wanted. I give it 5 thumbs up

But, a new rifle bag should be treated to a new rifle.
It’s a never ending circle.

Oh I have a pta in for something different.

Switching up a caliber for something I do genuinely need so I can justify it.

What could it be.

You’ll just have to wait a see.

But it has inspired me in a unique way. The gun on the market is a bit of a sleeper atm but I see something in it.

There will be no clues.
