G'day guys first time poster here...
Within the last couple of days I've applied for a class a and b firearms licence through A sapol branch in Adelaide.
My purposes for the licence is hunting and target shooting. I myself do not own any property but I do have a few friends with big blocks of property, one friend has 600acres (part time farmer, with a chook farm.)
Basicly I've I been inspired to acquire my licence and go shooting with that friend as he has a big pest problem with foxes with his chooks and goes rabbit hunting a lot, my other friends also go hunting on there properties for rabbits etc as well.
My old man and grandad use to do a lot of duck shooting and own a couple of shotguns and have gladly told me I can inheret the guns if I do the right thing and get my licence.
Basicly I just have a few questions as some other friends beg to differ about me acquiring a licence, I dunno if there just jealous I'm going through with it as we've all spoken about acquiring licences for years and I've finally gone for it.
1. Do I stand a chance getting my class a and b licence living in a metropolitan area?
2. Even though I have friends that will vouch for me with the hunting side of things and even the gun inheretince, is it true I will most likely get denied even with having the proper safety stuff e.g. Gun safe, seperate ammo tin etc
3. How long does it take for the sa firearms branch to contact you?
Basicly just after some advice from some experienced people that know what There on about and not just saying I don't have a chance just cause they say so.
My friends with property believe I'll have no problems but I wouldn't mind 2nd opinion
Thanks for your time
