Yeah i've got a .25 cal FX Impact M3. Ive set it up for just slugs only with a heavier higher twist rate barrel (heavier hammer, spring, valve blah blah) and shoot 44gr slugs @ ~1080fps

Same.FX Impact .25
Use heavy pellets at 980fps with awesome accuracy.
Regularly take rabbits at 50m to 60m and have nailed one at 96m

Ever thought about or tried it out on pigs ?
I heard some bloke saying his mate has dropped pigs with the FX 25 cal through the boiler room with ease.

Don't know whether he himself was running on high pressure air though.

My research into very high powered air rifles in Australia for pigs indicated that options were limited , long wait times , heavy price tags etc . I think in the USA u can just walk into shops and grab 45 cal Texan or similar . And even then it’s still going to have marginal energy .. maybe in the future if I see something on the shelf with balls might be tempted

.25 cal PCPs are the go, more efficient killers and can do chest shots on rabbits when a lot of .22 PCP shooters like to use head shots.

They are no big game hunting tools and generally they are tuned down a bit for accuracy.
My .22 can shoot a lot faster, but what's the point if it loses accuracy?

A real big cal that may knock a medium-sized pig is going to use so much air per shot that the shot count will be down.
They will likely make some noise as well.

I've taken a few foxes, lots of rabbits (it's an 'eye bulging' affair with head shots even at 80m) and plenty of hares (head and chest shots) with mine and I mainly use it for night time use as I've set it up to be full thermal.

I could easily swap the barrel, mag and pin probe to .30 or .35 cal but I feel the .25 is truely the sweet spot for power and shot count.

Most of the US large bore hunting PCPs are single shot and unregulated. So you are dumping 250-300bar bottle pressure all at once into the barrel vs the regulated 180bar I'm running in the plenum/barrel (300bar bottle pressure)

Thanks fellas for your replies.
I'm thinking that "old mate" talking about busting pigs with them,,, was a PCP himself,, as in High Pressure, Hot and unregulated Air.

Yeah, he prob saw the yanks on Pootube and talked the talk.

PCPs are not cheap, and you need the filling gear although the chink shoebox copies have solved the filling issues.
They are full of orings, so you need to be a tinkerer.

The big bore PCPs are just an exy toy.
