Don't think you can beat a Cz if you can find one

Agree with bigpete about the CZ 550, even the earlier BRNO 602, both rifles are very good with the CZ being a bit heavier and slightly smoother action. The SAKO M85 is also very good but can be a bit hit and miss with ejection and low mounted scopes with users rotating the scope 90 degrees to clear the port and prevent the case hitting the windage dial and falling back into the action. I saw a lot of 550's in Africa both hunters and PH's.

Glassy smooth would be how I would describe my old 550 375 H&H which had been converted to 500 A Square.

Beautiful deep bluing and a lovely classic straight stock, I regret selling it but silly recoil and an offer I couldnt refuse meant it was off to a new home. :drinks:

i agree with your comment on the sako 85's , i had a new 270 and a second hand 9.3x62 and they both did this . guys i know at the range run red dots on their 375's and 5500 jeffery to avoid this issue . the cz/brno need minor tweaking to feed round nose bullets i've been told . a simple fix for a highly rated rifle

Well, my experience is the long action 85’s do flick the cases up into the scope and back into the action, had a smith look at it and verify. You must’ve been lucky. They are a nice rifle, I sold mine

Oh, that clarifies things. I was told this about feed issues in CZ/brno’s by a fella who had to get his feed ramp tweaked. Apparently there are a few tweaks that make these rifles even better. South African gun smiths are quite adept at this. As I say, I was told this by a fella who owns one, take it with a pinch of salt
