I never cease to be amazed by these sorts of posts as well as many of the general comments that may follow.
Brings to mind the the famous words from Blazing Saddles "Ahh Blow It Out Your Ass Howard".
Please try to understand, irrespective of what you may have been conditioned to believe by Hollywood, we in the various states in Australia are still subjects of the Crown as has been vested directly in the successor states to the former colonies.
That the states have federated so we can proudly call ourselves Australians changes nothing.
As a subject you do not have "rights". However you may enjoy privileges that can be withdrawn or granted by the crown.
A "right" cannot be granted or withdrawn at the stroke of a pen as can be done with a privilege.
Many are confounded by the US bill of rights. It does not grant rights it merely identifies some rights that are inherent and inalienable to mankind.
No such thing exists in Australia and I doubt it ever will.
Beware of politicians whose political prospects depend on telling the voters they are chasing what those voters want to hear.
End of rant.
