I think she's finished. Was going to thread the barrel. Can't be bothered.
The original furniture was really nice, but couldn't help myself.
Much more nimble now.

Lots of fun , but really chews through ammo.
I've dumped about 250 rounds now and she's smooth as butter. No grease in the action, just let it wear in.

I’m pretty happy with the Alcor so far.
That’s really just a mock up of bits and parts as I’m yet to fully strip it and clean it properly.
But out of the box on a wine cask at 50 yards on first firing I got a half inch group with two rounds overlapping. So I was pretty chuffed with that.
I should have photographed it but got carried away and put a lot of holes in that wine cask.
I never had high expectations for it and still don’t all things being relative. This is not a bolt action 223 and that’s not really a fair comparison. This is a 400mm pencil barrel and if you run it hot expect your zero to wander.

But that said, what’s a fair comparison. Milspec carbine is perhaps a more suitable benchmark.
Ruger mini 14, m1 carbine, skk. It will outshine those. Ar15, m4, has superior accuracy.
Remember you have an incredibly accurate cartridge to start with in the Alcor in the 223. And that’s really where the credit lies.

So out of the box I ran the ammo that I favor. Factory ammo. Fiocci 55g with the polymer tips. And it was a good match.

The mechanism that stunts the auto reload looks simple but works in a complex manner. It doesn’t just hold open the bolt. Which is identical to an ar bolt. And it rips the spent cartridges out without fail.
But I can’t go into to much detail about the mechanism other than to say it wears in and smooths out fairly quickly. With practice and the right technique you could double tap a moving target.
I couldn’t do that with the original buttstock due to where the button is situated.

Next up.
The scope is going. This is a red dot gun. On a riser as far forward as I can mount it. And a cheek riser for the m4 stock is in the mail. If you want to work this gun it’s a 50-100 yard gun. And keeping your eyeball on a reticle just doesn’t work.
I don’t know what red dot or reflex sight I will settle with yet. I have a few to try out.
That’s a further compromise on accuracy but I can live with it. For hunting, you’re in the boiler room.

What else. Weight. I think I’ve got it just under 3 kilo.
Muzzle rise. Significant but not if you hold it correctly, hence the aftermarket handguard. You could put a brake on it but it would do bugger all.

Sling. Just a cheap copy of the magpul ms4 sling. So you can have single point or double point if you want to go for a walk.

Market competition currently. I’ve watched the Celik since its first conception. The original blowback design was a complete failure. And a spectacular one at that if you watch the Turkish testing. I’m still not sold on its latest conception. You can watch disassembly vids on line and make up your own mind. But I’m not sold on it.

The Alcor . It’s not perfect. Room for improvements. Open sights are rubbish. The retaining nut on the forend is three sided. Well I don’t have a three sided spanner. Who does. That’s just dumb.

But I like it. I will support the brand here and hopefully down the track a 300 blackout barrel would be nice Mr Turkey

Quite popular in Canada because of their strange laws. They outlaw anything that looks like an assault rifle. Sporadically though. When they decide it looks like an assault rifle.
And it was designed moreso for their market. Hence the availability of aftermarket stuff.
In Canada it has hunting rifle stamped on the receiver. Which is a bit tongue in cheek, to help them identify it as a sporting rifle.

This review convinced be to give it a go. He’s a boring old fart, but has a great deal of experience and he’s honest. I’ve always liked his content.
