Hi all. Just looking for some examples of data for loading. .223. Win Using ADI AR2206H powder for 55 gr Hornady V-Max. Currently using 23.5 gr powder, which is ok. About to start some ladder testing up to 25 gr. Rifle is 1:9 twist Howa short action with varmint barrel. Any opinions out there?

G'day Lazyreloader
My pet load for a few Howa 223 rifles with 1-9 twist, as well as a Sako Varmint 1-12 twist is 24gns of 2206H with the 55gn VMax bullet.
I have heard that people load up to 25gns but I go with what group size results I get, not outright speed.
I'll see if I can find a pic to prove that result.

Cartridge length will greatly effect your charge weights, if you seat longer than 2.260" you can fit significantly more powder in the case, without increasing pressure. Likewise, if you seat shorter you will see pressure signs at relatively low charges weights. Cartridge length is a fundamental factor in the load formula.

nah, looked but can't find a pic of a 55gn load test.
But if it helps, I found one using a 60gn VMax, which hangs together a little bit better.
