Pinned stocks in NSW

Post by big matt » 25 Oct 2025, 7:40 am

Have been reading different accounts on pinned stocks being illegal in NSW. Some newer style shotguns do come with pinned stocks to make them legal in NSW and seems to be no issue. But what about a rifle with a pinned adjustable stock that can't be "undone" and is fixed at the same length as a normal stock?

Best source for advice on this is a gunsmith who modifies such stocks to make em compliant

Controversial

Pinned by a gunsmith. Certified by a dealer.

I had a stock pinned by a gunsmith who is very well known...and he said I could've done it myself it was that simple...and he couldn't find anything online relating to any laws, but I have seen some articles saying that they may now be classified as "modified"

Reaction to members attempts to help is a classic case of "casting pearls before swine".
I reckon the bloke has what Lefties refer to as "A personality disorder".
Normal folks would describe him as an ingrate stunt.

That’s all the help there is. It’s NSW :unknown:
Has anyone ever read their legislation. They got the work experience kid to write it.
Nobody actually understands it, therefore it it subject to whatever interpretation the police you deal with make of it.

The simple answer is we don’t know and either do the police.
So you err on the side of caution and you cross your t’s and dot your i’s and ensure you’ve done everything you can reasonably do.
Maybe sign a stat dec stating how much you love being gay in NSW.
