Northern Territory National Firearms Registry

For those interested, info on what is going on in the NT regarding the NFR at the location below.

https://pfes.nt.gov.au/police/firearmsw ... s-register

The newsletters available at the website show the way it is being sold. Makes it feel less compulsory i guess. :sarcasm:

Not sure if the photos will be required in all states. But they are saying up here they need to get their current data to the appropriate level for integration in 2028 which would suggest the NFR requires it.

It would be nice if the NFR had some positives such as nationwide purchase permits. Easy interstate storage addresses etc. But I doubt it.

Don’t much like it but I guess I bend over and comply.
Possibly in the background.

Well lemons can make lemonade.
Possibly a dealer service they could provide for an additional fee. PTA with pics.

I've heard that NSW isn't planning on getting everyone to supply photos of their firearms, and that the reason NT is asking for it is because their systems were, until recently, still all in hard copy, and they only have a relatively small number of firearms owners to deal with.

Maybe their police just prefer picture books. Nice big illustrations, minimal text.

There is a number of stories and lies i guess.
It would make sense the small population is a good place to trial.

I've done some digging and the original claim for the photos is the police need to visually check all details are correct before the NFR comes into existence. Each state may comply differently. Does this mean they dont trust the paperwork that has all been through a dealer...do dealers need to send in 3000 photos going forward..hope not.

Time will tell I guess. I reckon there's gonna be more transcription errors through this method, my eyes cant pick out serial numbers like they used to and neither can the camera.
