But at least some coppers will chase this up, instead of condoning it by ignoring it.

We've got a pretty good copper in our local area, he's a shooter/hunter himself and has a good relationship with everyone in town. I'd say he's hit the jackpot in terms of where he's been stationed too

Unfortunately we have the opposite.
My neighbour was run off the road here during the week by a cruiser ute with two roadrunners in it clearly with rifles, he sent me the video he'd given the local cops. He was told that we are the problem because we tempt people when they can see targets in our paddocks.
"well there are deer on your property, did you expect any different?"
I was told the same, in fact, in front of my visiting old man, "well, you persist with breeding deer", I'm asking for it apparently.
We saw a TV show from Texas where there are special cops who defend property owners and actively chase poachers with 3D archery targets, night raids and really back their communities. Serving their communities. Totally opposite the "serving their political masters agendas" that we get here.
Great to see down south, where there seems to be a "hunting" culture rather than a "shooting" one, that you get some support.

That's so dumb, it's like blaming the local jewler for getting robbed because the criminals liked the look of his merchandise...

Important to know that here. If you are under threat the police may not do anything if it puts their own safety at risk.
Partly why the castle doctrine is needed.
I used to assume otherwise, but there was a case in Vic a few years back. Domestic violence incident. A man lit a woman on fire at a petrol station. A policeman who was there filmed it to use for evidence.
Good police work. Didn’t help the victim though.
That’s not to say police don’t ever intervene. Vast majority good people who want to help. But they re not obligated by oath.
They do have ohs guidelines though.
Off on a different tangent again. Not the topic at hand,
We do have a lot of this crap in Vic. Fence cutters, shooting signs, trespassing, shooting water tanks. You name it.
I celebrate someone being caught and prosecuted. It’s rare.
