I had a gut feeling that was coming, way back when the sh!t hit the fan in the Wait Awhile state.
You can never trust a politician,,,,,,,,,, especially a weevil with a fake smile.

Now is high time for all Qld shooters to get real busy,, get vocal,, and let everyone you talk to know your disapproval. (including your local member)
Don't hold back.

We don't want to become another WA

no time . the courier mail paper reported on the motion last sunday , labor tried introducing it very, very quickly yesterday(thursday) . first i heard of it was yesterday from a shooters union email. obviously the slime that runs labor didn't want to give people any time to object . i don't think the motion will get through, but it shows the mindset of labor .

Beat me to it, Bigrich. Good on you mate.
I hate the Labor party with a passion. The thought of that fat union c**kpit Miles still dribbling on as "opposition leader" just sums up what human trash looks like and how the CFMEU sponsored oxygen theives dictate Labor future.
I wonder how long it will take someone to blame John Howard for this too.

And for the softc**ks, yep, I personally paid a visit to my local member. He stated his country constituents do not need more gun laws, we need more judges who aren't living in a parallel woke universe.

after some thought, i'm keen to know what your key points were that you discussed with your local member wapati ? as a younger man i met with my local members over the "hoon laws" that were introduced in QLD and my concerns over abuse of these laws by authorities . people like myself , and advocate groups for motoring enthusiasts formed in response, changed the actions of police and MP's. i'm considering going and having a chat with my local member and i'm wanting to hear your key points with your MP so i can put forward a strong argument . when you look at the statistics of australia, we don't really have a gun problem as 95% or more of gun crime is committed by criminals with illegal firearms

Well I can tell you this, if the Labor Party has a majority in both houses of Parliament in Qld, (as they did in WA when they rammed through the Legislation) you are truly fuked and there is nothing you can do about it.
However if they have control via Independants you might have a chance by lobbying hard as a shooters group to sway the Independants to block the Legislation. Here in WA Labor controlled both Houses and there was nothing that could stop them. They are sneaky munts, with a "C", they guillotined discussion after reviewing 11 clauses (out of over 100) and rushed it through, before the State Election. They could not do this now as Labor does not control the Lower House.
I dont know how much money I donated to various organisation and how many petitions I signed it was all for SFA.
So when you vote at the next election, vote Labor OUT, dont sit on the fence or they may get back in and the bulls**t continues.
For those unaware the Lefty Loonies, here have now closed fishing on the West Coast, countless people will go broke. They dont give a fuk!

Well Rich my main points were,
Queenslands gun laws already ensure that only exemplary people get access to firearms, and no evidence that tightening laws further will do anything to lessen crime whatsoever. He agreed.
Drugs and guns, come in on the same boats, same planes, same shipping containers, inside the same engine sumps, etc.
Not from public firearms license holders.
I mentioned how primary producers in WA have one hand tied behind their back with regards to access of their properties decided by people who have no idea what the farmers issues on the land with feral animals, animal welfare, with the type of gun s they can own, and the senior political police who decide who can be permitted on their places.
Also, the big issue of mental health assessments - I know for a fact that the police in WA wanted GP's to assess whether or not a shooters licence holder is of a psychological state to own firearms. They cannot do that, neither can Psychiatrists (real doctors), tell what your mental state will be next week, next month, next year. Which is the main issue. Nor will they do it.
My brother is a very well known psychiatrist, and he HATES guns and cannot see why anyone wouldn't play golf or tennis instead. He reckons that if there were no guns, there would be no gun related crimes, suicides or incidents. We have huge arguments. Imagine if you had to be assessed to have a gun license by him?
Forget psychologists, woke uni-educated non-health professionals. God help us. They'd be lining up to stroke their egos and screw us over (not mentioned in my discussion).

It was a casual discussion, he knows me because I have taken him to task on the Pikedale wind factory that Squadron Energy (Twiggy Forrest scum) want to destroy our area with 210 giant 280m high turbines. Aint gonna happen.

Pertinent question remains.
Did this happen ?

Nothing in last Thursday’s transcript. Miles wasn’t in attendance.
And no they don’t sit on Sundays

Will it happen. It’s on the horizon country wide. But the priority is the national registry rollout, still several years till completion.
Then I think we can expect WA laws implemented nationwide. But they want a reliable accurate registry first.
Both majors want national gun laws realised, despite their origins. Voting for either won’t save us.
Look elsewhere for salvation. Or keep voting for your own demise.

i haven't heard any more on the issue with regards to qld parliament. i think you are quite right with regards to national firearms laws coming eventually . being at the personal whims of a assessing shrink for mental health assessment is what worries me the most . defined rules i can live with, sort of ;)

I have better information now. I just skimmed over it last night and missed that.
Miles put in motion to implement the recommendations from the Wiembilla shootings. Coroner’s report. One of those recommendations was mental health checks.
Obviously labor doesn’t have the numbers.
But LNP are committed to bipartisanship on anything gun related. So I’ll guess we’ll wait and see.
I don’t think at this point they regard it as feasible.
I think this is just rage bait. Sensationalism to drum up new membership.
And courier mail is a newscorp publication
Mile’s motivation. Probably just to further fracture the LNP. So be it, good riddance.

Sadly womble this is starting to resemble a beat up by Shooters Union, can't blame them for wanting to drive membership so admin can order new Dodge Rams

I did read the Current Coroner made recommendations following his 2022 Wieambilla report, the LNP Police Minister has also refused to deny his support for these change. It would seem the current Liberal party supports this recommendation, nothing to do with Labor by the looks, just politics

Not correct.
Why are some of you looking for excuses and looking the other way all the time?

This morning on SKY news we have John Howard pressuring the Lib state govt in Qld to look at strengthening the laws further.
Exactly what SU are warning us about.
Get all agitated with me if you want for your own ignorance, but you are wrong again. Hang sh*t on me instead if your personality gets a boost from it, I don't need your love.

SU IS NOT beating anything up, but is actually informing us all of what's going on. Everyone else is hiding from what they don't want to hear. Typical and exactly why we are where we are now with BS laws.

Actually the Missus had a good point last night - 4 people all with illegal, unregistered guns, hold up two farms, there's a police incident with up to a dozen police vehicles from 3 local towns, stolen vehicles and an armed getaway on a country highway... and nothing in the news.

Doesn't suit the narrative of blaming law-abiding, legally licensed folk, and support more laws that do nothing? She might have a point.

Either way, none of you would know about any of this if you only watch mainstream media from your urban suburbs.
Meanwhile, people out here are pushing the laws by keeping firearms as handy as possible because of what's happening away from the masses.

utterly staggering that a event like that happens and no media coverage . is information being controlled and manipulated in this country ? after hearing about that any logical, sane person would have to wonder .

I have asked SU directly for the more details on Labor motion, the balls in there court Wapiti, the LNP have never been friends of shooter.

I like Katters energy in asking to replicate the NSW Game council model of public lands hunting access but Crusafill is a tosser and unlikely to give anything away esp when he is guilty of removing public access to QLD rivers

Yeah fair enough, I don't trust ANY politicians either, They all swing ONLY with where they think they can get votes.
So, if they think the average city clown thinks it's a good idea, even if it's dumb, they'll do it.

I cop a lot of flack for going on about politics, but really, the only way to stop this is to make them aware that they are really p*ssing off the voters and driving them elsewhere.
Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. But those people who get insulted when I say our biggest enemy is the lazy f*cks within that are here only for the easy times need to get off their phone screens and get on the emails.

It’s not really a beat up on shooters union to be fair. They're just trying to stay ahead of whatever devious plans are in store for us.
We have government with no transparency and they do plot against us behind closed doors.
That’s why there’s always speculation as to their true intentions. They’re not open and honest about anything.

The coroner’s report included mental health checks if feasible.

If feasible being the key words.

It was a labor minister stirring the pot relating to this because the sitting government doesn’t view it as feasible. Either do the opposition but they’re not in a position to have to admit that.

There’s no reason members of the shooting community would be opposed to ensuring licensed shooters were in good mental health.
None of us want to lose anyone to suicide or worse. But how is that really doable without the infrastructure in place for support.
So when the government says it’s not feasible, they mean they don’t want to spend money on it.
The realisation that they’d have to spend money on mental health gets sidelined pretty quickly.

couple of quotes and observations for ya wapiti, better to have tried and failed, than never tried at all. evil men triumph when good men fail to act .

throughout history great things have been accomplished by great men who had courage, determination and conviction . people of today are generally quick to rag on anyone who stands up to make a difference , guess that person makes them feel inadequate , so they rag on the "tall poppy".

Good points Rich, appreciate them.
Personally I'm still coming to grips with this social media thing.

Up here it's big news, other politicians are jumping onto the bandwagon, calling for stricter laws. And they have jumped on the fact that this clown JH has jumped in on it to skite how it was him who "took the necessary steps to stop us becoming another US gun culture".

What disappoints me is the people who are supposed to be our peers, who brush this off as a membership drive by SU by whipping up fear.
Honestly, those people are my arch enemy, people who sicken me. And they white ant the social media wood-pile, because they hide behind that as an excuse.

No wonder there are so many people on social media blaming others for their position in society, belittling others who dare to never give up, or achieve something they never will with their attitudes, all to hide their lack of achievement or the fact they are satisfied with being pushed around, or being a sheep hiding in the flock.
Or maybe, too average to fight like some of us. So it is their peers that become the enemy.

Don't dare show that you have a go if you want to be popular, but who wants to be a sheep going up into the truck?
