So if they make this mandatory and offer a blanket $1000 for centrefire rifles, like I’m seeing in WA. Do we have any legal recourse given my rifle is worth $4K or is it just go and pound sand? Like mine is a target rifle you could barely lift it to your shoulder more than a few times as it is so heavy.

remove scopes and accessories , wait a while and sell second hand . scopes and similar aren't restricted items in QLD . if i had to hand in a rifle they'd be getting a bolt, receiver/magazine and barrel and that's it !

There's bigger problems to worry about at the moment.
on Aussie reviews he just pointed one of those out there 100% going with this National registration database something to think about is the category system where the category b in one joint is a category C in another he did point out there were some mix-ups with a and b so you can rest assure that they won't be dropping anything from a category to suit it will be lifted so think you'll find that the theft of our firearms will be a lot broader than you think they're going to have to go national firearms laws

There will be no second hand market here for optics if recreational shooting is banned. There will be millions of optics for sale with no buyers.

Those with high end optics might have to look at selling overseas.

Those who have a fancy stock/chassis might be better off removing them selling overseas and just handing in bolt action barrel and magazines or keeping stock/chassis as a wall ornament..

Ffs I was worried that would be the case. Not to mention I was looking at trading a couple in to get a better one but the 2nd hand market is now going to be in freefall.

your right there . my local gun shop was doing it tough cause of the economy, now i reckon sales are going to be non existent until laws in QLD are settled . on the upside i might be able to walk into cleavers and get served straight away

mate, PM some forum members who might be able to take these off your hands . maybe networking you might find some kiwi's interested in quality gear . just suggestions mate . hope you find a solution to your problem

Everybody knows a farmer handed in his ar15 in 1987 to the police when Victoria banned them. It was then used by Victorian police for training then sold to a Bendigo gun dealer then somehow ended up in Tasmania and used for the Port Arthur shooting.

well, i haven't done 5 , but this afternoon i sent my local labor mp a third email and just now a email to QLD premier .

According to these new laws they're bringing in you won't be allowed to get on the street and demonstrate that's one thing they want to bring in if something's been listed as a terrorist event no demonstrations for three to six months and we all know why that is being brought in
