Last I heard was potential limits and thats it. But no drafts or anything has occurred yet.
Rather quiet in Queensland which is unsettling.

That sounds horrible! Worse than WA and NSW. Would be the worst laws in the world.

Yeah not good, but that was only one response.
I wrote to all 92 QLD MP’s and I reckon 20 have responded so far. I would say that there has been more positive responses to our cause than negative.
But of course, this is politics. Anything could happen.

I am going to assume 90% of the politicians in the QLD parliament do not even know our current gun laws.

Not really a surprise, but still important to keep in mind what we are up against.
“ Thanks for reaching out to Michael about the proposed gun law reforms. As Michael is on leave for the next few weeks I am responding on his behalf.
Firstly, I would like to clarify that so far the LNP State Government in QLD has shown little interest in immediate gun law reform. Unlike the NSW, SA and Victorian State Governments, which recalled Parliament over the Christmas holidays in order to pass gun law reform, the QLD State Government will not be returning to Parliament until mid-February.
At the moment, the LNP has only committed to a consultation process, which does not yet have a timeframe.
That being said, Michael will wholeheartedly be supporting any gun reform on a State level, and has been in touch with his colleagues around the country to discuss what changes need to take place to ensure the horrific events at Bondi do not happen again.
You can read the full statement of what we're calling for here, but the main points we'll be calling for are:
Rapid implementation of the National Firearms Register
Strict limits on the number of firearms people can own with a maximum of three, except in exceptional circumstances
Prohibitions on accessing high-powered hunting rifles unless clear pressing need is established
A fresh national buy-back scheme to remove high powered and excess firearms from the community
Strict prohibitions on rapid-fire firearms including the Adler A 110 lever action shotgun and similar weapons
Time limited gun licences with ongoing character checks for all gun owners
Removal of recreational hunting as a “genuine reason” for a firearm licence
I understand that you may not agree with these proposals, however the Greens have developed these strategies not as an approach to take all guns away, but as a balanced approach including modernisation of the laws and restrictions consistent with evidence-based proposals that would demonstrably reduce the risk of harm to the community.
In particular, technological advancements in firearms on offer in Australia over the last few years have led to our current laws being outdated (e.g. new high capacity, straight-pull mechanism shotguns that have been - after much lobbying - put in Category A or B which made them more accessible to people without a real justification for access, like the Bondi shooters).
Unlike other parties and politicians supportive of looser gun control, the Greens have no direct or indirect financial interests in the firearms industry. Our proposals include exemptions where there's a clear demonstrated need (e.g. for professionals managing livestock or engaged in pest control to have access to the appropriate gun for different species).
I hope this clarifies Michael and the Green's position on gun law reform. Thanks again for reaching out and sharing your views. ”

Labor and liberals try to play games about the true intent of their policies but the greens are very honest about their intentions. So I respect their honesty whilst hating their opinions.

The greens are an abomination of mankind.
Homo sapiens are the most elite apex predators ever devised by the natural world.
Intelligent primates who entered the savanna’s and fed on meat. The sustenance and nutrition that gave us combined with our intelligence made us unstoppable.
We hunted all other species of hominids to extinction.
It’s not who we are as a people. But it is what we are as a species. Highly evolved and technically superior hunters.
Hundreds of thousands of years in the making.
In everything we do we are hunting. For resources, for a mate. Because it’s in our nature and it drives us.
We find other ways to satisfy our instincts. But nothing ever really compares to the real thing. When you have full sensory awareness because you are in your true element.
And then a green says stop. No more.
They’re not people. They are freaks of nature. An abomination of mankind. They are fanatical psychopaths.
They will not reason. They will not compromise. They will not coexist.
And they will not stop until they have turned us all into dumb bleating herbivores.

And also to reiterate that we aren't the cause of Bondi - that Labor government inaction and failure was, and we will not accept being swept up in their failures politically.
I won't post up a link this time, if you're not in the SU I'm not interested anymore. Can't help those who want others to do the heavy lifting.
I certainly will be doing up a short email to Mr. Crisafulli, our deputy Premier and ths Police minister, and again personally driving into town and visiting my local Liberal member of Southern Downs, James Lister.

Wapiti wrote:Great to see you blokes helping out, and bothering to comment with your positive actions.
There are a lot of members here though, and its not just Queenslanders who should be commenting to Qld politicians. It tells them and reinforces to them of the positive opinions from interstate of how better to react and respecting their constituents.
I'm someone who's done that too in my state, but I've also sent emails to Minns and Yasmin Catley in NSW, basically briefly saying that i'm so grateful that i am represented by conservative politicians who value and respect me, and do not blame me for their lack of stepping and directing blame where it came from - muslim extremism that they did nothing about until innocent people were killed and now they are directly to blame for their failure to act.
And that hopefully, people in their state will decide that they won't vote for politicians who will steal their possessions to hide their personal failure.
Might seem strong words, but the truth needs to be told and if it hurts their feelings, good.
They take on the responsibility, them they are responsible for what's happened.

i agree . the greens have a maniacal , almost religious extremist view of things . they believe they have some sort of morale high ground, and as such, no respect for anyone else's views or rights . same as the anti gun lobby. these idiots think if you get rid of all the guns you won't have shootings and murder anymore . criminals with illegal firearms that don't obey the law doesn't seem to register with these clowns . the greens always go last on my ballot paper, after labour .
