Facebook AI will be the death of me.

Post by Die Judicii » 12 Jan 2026, 11:45 pm

Years ago I needed to join a "users forum" to be able to get some help on a particular optical product I had purchased.
The aforementioned forum was hosted by "facebook"
My very last nerve endings were screaming "No,,,,,,,, don't do it"
But, I did,,,,, I joined up.
I had a pop up that said I had to wait 24 hrs b4 being able to post.
> Waited the prescribed time, then penned my question I needed an answer to.

Which was,,,,,, The model # blah blah that I'd purchased had a focus knob on it that was extremely hard to rotate,,, could anyone tell me if it got easier to rotate as it accumulated use and age ?

Went to bed and got up next morning to see if I had any answers.

> Tried to log in but was met with a message from FB saying I'd been banned for life. :wtf:
> No other info supplied or reasons offered.
> No way to contact them or ask why. (F@#king frustrating to say the least)

A year later I was talking to a friend about it, and repeated the question that I'd posted.
Friend nodded and said that most likely the AI robot reading my post,, had thought I was being lewd by saying that I had a hard knob so that was it, and I found myself banned for life.
Which was quite evident,,,, cos anytime I clicked on anything associated with FB,, I was blocked.

Then I had to get a new computer (the old one died) and my new computer shop man told me that with a new IP address I could now join FB.
Which suited me so I could partake in the "Market Place" and buy or sell goods.

So I signed up to FB with a new account.
> Everything went smoothly with that, until I went to list an item for sale.
> Listed the item,, added photos,, clicked NEXT,,, and got a pop up saying "Not allowed because I had exceeded my limit of ads" :wtf:

A friend stepped up and played around and Hey Presto,,, got a message saying that my Ad was "being reviewed"

Fine,, I thought, so then went to list a second item.

> Pop Up says,,, "Verify that your human, type in the (squiggly) code.
> Did that, and another Pop Up says, "We need you to make a video selfie,, and move your head according to instructions."
> Clicked on NEXT,,, and another pop up says "We can't access your camera"

Well I'm sorry,,,,,, Mr AI f@#king robot,,,,,,,, my new computer doesn't have a built in camera.
Now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I can't log back into FB because its locked onto the "video selfie ID mode,,,, and again, I can't ask FB for an alternative.

FU@#ing AI will be the death of all of us.

How come there are morons out there that cannot spell nor string two words together that make sense,,,, that seem to thrive on FB :unknown: :unknown:

mate , your better off without all that cr@p . FB gathers personal details and intelligence on you as well. i look at FB to see the availability of ripley rifle range , but that's it . i haven't been on FB in 20 years . having said that i'm increasingly feeling like this modern world is leaving me behind . the majority of people down at the local telstra shop are over 50 , so i'm not alone :)

give me a engine to fix or something to weld/fabricate and i'm brilliant . when it comes to modern tech like phones/internet i'm really out of my element.

I didn't even know a life ban was possible :-)
I've never had an FB ban but I've been banned from posting for 24hrs once. Never seen the camera stuff and as I don't have a camera I can't see how that would work. I have no idea what's going on there, JD.

And I agree, AI is absolute garbage :-)

Yeah, it is ridiculous.
I just tried to log in again this morning, but its locked into the Video verification thing which doesn't allow anything else to happen.

The AI bot should be asking itself "Why isn't there a camera in the computer" or,,,,,,, "There is no camera available, so lets do things via phone"

And there is no such thing as a "Help" page or message system to sort the mess out.

Yep,,,,,, they've done it to me again.

> Suspended

I appealed in the hopes of finding out what I've done wrong and get the mess sorted.

Recieved a noreply email stating that my "Appeal" has been dealt with, and they say my activity and content is against their standards.

:wtf: :wtf: All I did was try to list a For Sale advert on Market Place,, for a brand new Hydraulic Power Pack.

> Now I'm banned for life,,,,,,,,,, AGAIN,,

Can any of you FB users tell me what is wrong in that ??

My wife has Facebook sites for the businesses; I guess you have to nowadays because everyone is scrolling Facebook.
She says it's virtually essential nowadays, what a smart business eh? And the users are the product!

She sent me a link to a hunting website, won't name it, saying there were lots of deer and pig hunters there and it looked OK. She didn't really check it out that well, so I asked to join. Yep, have to request to join, explain who you are and why.
Two days later, request accepted.
I went there 3 times, and each time it just left me shaking my head at the pics posted up, bucks that would've been spectacular trophies shot in velvet, meat hinds obviously suckling fawns shot for meat, leaving the fawn to die which it will, then followed by the usual self-appraising comments.
Then the usual crap about how Australia will be over-run with wild feral animals now, taking over towns with the 5-gun limit in NSW. Or whatever it is.
So rather than comment, and obviously not fitting in, I'm not going back.
I am a product of my daily experiences and businesses, and do not fit in there.

I joined a couple of forums before deciding on this one, and see members here at those too, all hours of the day. Had to join those to see what they were all about.
This one is enough. But Facebook takes the cake, almost as hostile and basement dwelling as the 20 or so 24-hr posters that rule AHN.
You won't miss Facebook.
