Where to now ?

News and events in the media and political arena relating to firearms.

Where to now ?

Post by Zappa » 21 Jan 2026, 7:02 pm

We're about to get some of the most harshest firearm laws in the country to date so I'm just sitting here and contemplating next move.

Do we go quietly into the dark, and try to put it behind us or do we crank it up a notch. I doubt the laws will be repealed anytime soon or ever for that matter, so what is there left to do?
Next federal elections are at least 18-20 months away so there's no use threatening a party to take your vote elsewhere.

A combined 10 firearms for a sportshooter is not many that many these days as a lot of people have backup firearms, and firearms they use as project builds.
Im guessing the only hope we have is VIC and SA to join QLD, NT and TAS in not agreeing to the back buy, the firearm rules and the re-categorization.

After all of this, I've come to the conclusion that apart from letters and emails, Australians will just drop their dacks and stick their @rses in the air and take it from Minns and Albo. And whoever else jumps on board.
Flame me, bag me out, vibrate on the spot, whatever you like. But how about then, that if you do that, I hope you'll back it up and organise some nationwide marches where you all attend and show me I'm F.O.S.

Yep, all that and more.
Being totally innocent (as LAFO's are) with regards to why we are all at this point,,,,,
We need mass rallies in protest of the way we are being victimised (proposed buy back and limits on ownership)

I don't know about the rest of you blokes,, but I am 70+ years of age, never set a foot wrong with firearms and worked bloody hard to get what I have.

What I have in the way of firearms is/was partly an insurance that I could sell off piece by piece, if and when I needed to in the future.

If I'm forced to hand these in it will wipe out my only real investment and will find that to be impossible to recover from, being now dependant on the old age pension.

Over the years, I have donated many hundreds (more likely thousands) of hours to land owners in Southern Queensland hunting feral dogs.
These proposed restrictions will prevent me from continuing that work.

That's a bitter pill to swallow, and I'm sure I'm not the only one in similar circumstances.

Needless to mention the businesses that are likely to collapse from these very same restrictions/bans.

It's high time the whole of Australian LAFO's made one hell of a noise and say "F#ck You" this is my property.

I hope you're right DJ, that people will say NO !!!!
Like I've said here a few times and been shot down... I'm on record here calling for that quite a while ago.

I will be at any rally that's organised, I don't care if I have to drive 5hrs to Brisbane.
I believe that was valid excuse in WA this time last year though.... (apparently)

Hence my pessimism and prior post.

Pretty sure Vic is still bankrupt after Dan Andrews finished with it so I can't see them wanting to buy all my firearms off me.

I rang up the Mrs at lunch and told her to race down to the little gun-shop there during her lunch-break and pick up the 16" barrel for her PB12M and the extra mags they got in for her (came with a 20")... I hear all of those imported straight pulls, button releases and all parts are now stopped at customs and banned from import now.

Just make sure you’ve got enough fuel money for attending protest gatherings Mate.

:D you just let me know when . wonder if the media would portray us as dangerous radicals like they portrayed "the march for australia" ? . when there was no violence or mass arrests of those "nazi" marchers in brisbane the politicians and MSM went quiet for a few days , really had egg on their faces :D
hopefully ssaa would organise a rally officially backed by them as it would really legitimise a march and add some real numbers too hard to ignore. i'd carry a shooters union flag , no worries

Who cares mate. That isn't going to happen.
We can't be scared of what we portray on the day, and how we behave, simple as that.
EVERYONE OF YOU BLOKES that I have met, the people I've ever seen at the gun ranges, gunshops and at gunshows have been gentle, decent people who are just doing something that makes them happy.
Yeah, there are plenty of f*ckwits coming out here, but they are the minority, as in any interest, but those people will never lift a finger to stick up for others and attend a rally or protest about anything unless XXXX or gay-sex-on-site was banned.

The media can try and spin anything, but we don't give them anything because we are the good folk of Australia 24hrs a day.
It is the politicians that will see that, if we are taking the time to travel to protest, that we will not support them is they do not support us.

mate , some elements of the media are even more dangerous , lying , truth manipulating scumb@gs than the politicians in my opinion . actually i think it's support of the left by MSM as the root cause of why this country's f@cked  the sheeple just believe it all.

as far as media people go i'd love to have a chat with david koche more than anyone after seeing the viscous attack on pauline during a interview on 7's morning show years ago . on the same show they ran a story on bullying and gas lighting behaviour in relationships . freakin amazing ......

My bro in NSW still has his collector licence so he is putting some of his guns from his firearm licence on his collector licence as even in NSW a collector licence is unlimited.

I suggest others down there do the same! Get your collector licence.

I hate every gun law but I jump through every hoop to get every licence I can so I can get all the guns. I have Collector, pistol, firearm and instructor.

I am now doing the massive hoops to get a dealers licence and then armourer so I can buy machine guns and suppressors.

Where to now? A more sensible country than this nanny state. Gun laws aside, i'm more worried about the hate speech laws. Any one of us could go to jail at any time for anything. Remember how we laughed at the Pro 2A Yanks at the mere suggestion our government would do something like this? I'm gunning for America (been to their Heartland & loved it!), but even New Zealand's looking good to me at the moment. Better gun laws, no licences for break open airguns, airsoft is a thing, they got crossbows, cheaper rent, cooler climate, & plenty of jobs for people like me. Sure, they got that exodus going on, & sure, they had ardern, but it's gone.
I don't blame Wapiti for losing faith in the australian people. Still have faith in them? Go for a drive, go to woolies, & come back to me.
