Chapman screwdrivers customer service

Post by Wapiti » 15 Mar 2026, 8:26 am

Bit of a story about a great company that really has excellent customer service.
Ages ago I broke a bit from Chapman set, using it for something I shouldn't. My fault.
I sat on it for about a year and looked everywhere here but couldn't find a replacement bit. As can be seen, they are quite unique.
So I emailed them in the US.

The lovely lady, apparently it's an all female run business, quizzed me about where I'm from and what I do and how I broke the bit, and came back after a day or so and said, the bit itself was $4 AUD but the postage would be $36... But would be the same if they shipped a whole new set.
So out of the blue she said if I bought the bit on their online store and paid postage, she'd send me some "goodies" as she put it, that would make it very worthwhile. So I did, stuff it I thought.
The original set I have, great for guns.

Then I get a message from another lady in their shipping department, saying she'd been instructed to send me some goodies too, one of which is apparently a new promotional "#1000 Mity Master Set" and some other promotional goodies that they say is a surprise and I'll see when I get it here.
So a new bit, and a whole new, bigger set, and whatever else they call promo stuff!
Now a long wait to see what that is!
So people, if you are after a great set of especially ground screwdrivers made in America, by people who have EXTRAORDINARY out-of-the-blue customer service without being asked, just for being polite, this stuff is GOLD.
In a world where Chinese cheese is the norm with no support, this little company is amazing especially with all the negativity nowadays.

A good mate of mine, dealt with Ransom in Arizona for a handgun rest. Terrific people to deal with.

I think on 2 occasions, when our shops, and importers were not interested it small parts like a die decapping pin replacement, an email to the company had an immediate response and they must have made our distributors just send me the part, or 2 for free.

Manufacturing is on a huge scale in the USA.
When a mate set up a business importing campers, they flew him over their huge caravan-type plant in a chopper so he could see it properly.
We could never imagine as the markets are tiny with our population.

These are excellent tools, and like you, I busted one of the small screwdriver bits and was quoted $36 postage for a $4 bit.
They didn't offer me any freebies though - you must be a lot better with the ladies than me.

Whereas years ago I got gun related stuff sent over no problem. Now I get told they dont ship to Australia. But I think I read that Brownells is back again.
But that screwdriver business sounds great.

Forgot to add: I have had my Chapmans for over 20 years + and they are still going strong. Well made and reliable.
