NOTHING has been done to train, attract or encourage new tradespeople (apprentices)
EVEN the young bloke in this story Rich posted wants to train in UNI for a useless, underpaid, under-indemand field.
NOTHING has been done to help the already-losing-money building trades be able to afford costly apprentices whatsoever.
NOTHING has been done make building materials available here in Aus - No, we rely on Chinese crap
NOTHING has been done to make our own steel, timber and stone building materials in Australia again despite our never-ending resources.

ALL OF THIS is on the heads of the politicians who have been self-serving themselves for 30 years or more.
ALL OF THIS is something they can start fixing right away.

What this well-meaning, but delirious kid doesn't understand, is that screwing up the incentive for mum-n-dad investors to encourage the building of new houses will actually completely destroy what's left here, and put housing ONLY in the hands of the mega-rich.

I had an "interesting" discussion with a politician recently and his thought-bubble remedy to fix all of societies financial problems was to "grow the economy"?
When he was challenged with the clear and obvious fact that not so long ago it was possible for a family to live very comfortably with (usually) the father earning ONE income and the mother (home-maker) staying at home to attend to the household/family needs, things were pretty good.
ONE income, and living comfortably!

The retort from the politician was that "yes, but we've got so many more things, now, that we "need", such as smart-phones, Netflix subs, two cars to convey the kids to school, etc, etc".

Then, we get to the subject of inflation.
Why is it that the so called reserve bank has an allowable inflation rate of circa 2 - 3%? Problem is that if you compare a graph of the GDP with a graph of the (benchmark ?) price of Gold, over the same period of time, the trend graphs seem to mirror each other.

Are we really better off now, with all of that "grown" economy?

i agree with everything you've posted above , he's only 13 , and looking to get involved and try to change this country for the better . i think that's remarkable , and the younger generation should be encouraged to step up and try . inaction and no accountability for our p!ss poor leadership is why we're in the pickle we're in . there's more to it of coarse , just a quick summary

I keep getting emails from them, from some clown called Matthew Sheehan.
Every time I unsubscribe, I get another one from somewhere else, from the same mob, from another rolling email address. They just keep coming, asking for money for some other cause.
They are trying to profit from others political anger. Scum.

I NEVER donate to anyone using my bank details or debit card, because these grubs can easily unlawfully keep your card info and keep stealing from you. I reckon it's stealing, because you aren't deliberately doing it again yourself, they just steal.

I will donate to the Salvos, Smith Family and St' Vinnies with cash I deliberately collect from the 10c recyclables, which I do every month and pick up the items from some mates doing it for me, because these orgs have helped me and my mates without judging us in other times of our lives when things weren't going so well.

I cancelled Paypall years ago, because my supposedly "secure" account was stolen repeatedly from and Paypal, the grubs, wouldn't refund the theft. They are a dirty company to me forever more.

In the united states, citizens that were donating small amounts of cash to political parties via the electronic system, then had their details used in fraudulent donations well over their income earnings or any real price range they could ever imagine.

When confronted with the details, a lot of these people broke down in anger and frustration, some even attacked the messenger bringing it to their attention.


Be very careful who you give money torwgardless of the name on their shirt.
It may give you a warm fuzzy feeling, but chances are, on the other end, it's not reaching its intended destination.

At one of our last members meetings, the visiting official said all the SEQ Brigades had been given more funds due to generous donations from the public, and it had been distributed amongst the different country areas based on size and how we were spread out.
We were at a meeting where we were provided eskies full of beer and a mobile trailer-BBQ that was paid for from public donations.
He asked, have any of us got any ideas how we could spend the money?

We had just had the big fires, and I suggested a few mobile firefighter pod trailers be purchased and spread out amongst the members, as he had ruled out more 4WD appliances because "they were too expensive".
One thing that was terribly apparent was that we didn't have enough of these, we had plenty of members, but no gear. When spot fires broke out everywhere where the big appliances were already stuck at other fires, we had nothing to use.
I said, imagine if there were a dozed=n or so of these fire-pods dotted around the district, when a fire broke out down the road, we can get there way faster than an appliance at the local RFS station 50-75km away.

The short, portly beer-filled official said, "Hmmm, that's an idea, but what do you all think? We can either put that forward, or have more get-togethers with free beer and BBQ's for you all. We can't afford both. I vote for more casual get-togethers"
Well, the ayes had it, the majority wanted more BBQ's with free p*ss instead of more fire-fighting gear.
