Listed on the Yahoo News. A severely dehydrated man was rescued from Picard Island after a search and rescue operation that was initiated by family members after he failed to return from a solo boating camping trip in a 3.3 meter “inflatable” dinghy. Reportedly he was snorkeling on his own, five kilometres off the island when the mooring broke/separated,, and the dinghy floated away. I’m guessing what little brains he had floated away as well. I hope the authorities make him pay for the search and rescue costs.

Maybe he's like me, and his mates are all "gunna" types that are always gunna come round and have a shot, gunna get around to have a camp, gunna do a 4-hr drive for a visit when there's no OT, or the Mrs is gunna let 'em out eventually.
Old mate probably got the sh*ts with waiting, and just went out and had a go to try and enjoy himself. The Murphy showed up.

Makes me sometimes worry doing all the stuff I do by myself. Sh*t happens sometimes, so I got some sympathy for the bloke 'cos he's having a go and not sitting on the couch drinking and eating 20 years off his life. Bet it's nice out there too.

I just had trouble digesting the fact.

Apart from the fact that he coulda died from thirst and exposure,, knowing what else swims in those waters made me shudder.
He's extremely lucky to have swam the 5 kilometers and not been taken.
