Dammit. 300WM PPU cases are on "backorder". Oh well, still got some left.
I was having a look in the stash earlier and what I paid for PPU 338 Lapua Mag with a 250gn Match hollowpoint (loaded cartridges) was $39.90 for 10. Yes, comes in boxes of 10. That's $4/per loaded round. On special, mind.
I just looked at what Lapua brand 338L empty brass is right now, ON SPECIAL...
LAPUA 4PH8068 UNPRIMED BRASS 338 LAPUA MAGNUM SPECIAL NEW...$649 /PER 100 That's $6.49 each for an empty case!
Now, my handloads with a 250gn Sierra Matchking in a Sako TRG Stealth easily cloverleafs, but that's with my meticulous case and weighing prep, with projectiles 10 thou from the lands. Using Redding micrometer dies and 3 thou case neck grip. Yep, they still fit in the TRG magazine like that too.
But with a new case, projectile, powder and Fed 215 mag primer, are $10/round.
Yet this PPU $4/per 250gn factory round with NO attention from me, who-knows-what-jump-to-the-lands, powder weigh consistency and an unknown projectile make still shot under 20mm @110m for 5 shots, at 2,990fps average, shooting from the magazine with no pussying around beytween shots girlying around waiting for barrels to cool or wind to be the same or any other gay BS. Absolutely 100% awesome for such cheap ammo and I have great empty brass left over to handload with my recipe above.
I put this example up because of the performance and pleasure one gets using a brand of ammo that others bag out, for way less money in this rip-off world. For those of you who have heard on other basement-shooter forums how this brand might be cheap sh*t, I hope you take it with a grain of salt.
