A question about Re-sell Value of firearms?

Hi All

My foxing/thermal setup up to this point has been a Lithgow LA102 in 223 Varmint Barrel with the thermal on top and a Bog Deathgrip tripod.

That's 4kg for the tripod and another 4.5-6kg for the rifle, depending on which thermal or scope/clip-on I run.

Since being gifted a Manbilly tripod that weighs 1.8kg I couldn't believe how much unnecessary weight I was carrying around and how much easier I found it to do a 3-6 hour paddock walk with two less kilos.

So now I'm thinking about selling the heavy-barreled Lithgow and picking up a lighter rifle (I've got my eyes on a CZ Trail in .223)

What's the expected drop in value for a 2nd hand rifle? If I've paid $2000 for it, roughly where should I be aiming to sell it for?

(I am fully aware it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it but don't want to undercut myself as I'm not in a rush)

OK. Now the above is a good place to start, and even though the following is not strictly related, here goes -
I owned and operated a radio communications business for about 40 years and if someone purchased a new radio, as soon as they "walk out the door", then as the dealer I can not offer them any more than about 50%. This is because I need to then resell it at a profit (or I would go broke) otherwise I would be selling a "preowned item" at new price no warranty. Can't do it. BUT, if that purchaser sold it to another end-user in as new condition, he could reasonably ask about 75% (as there is no warranty any more).
Don't know if that makes sense.

You are correct in saying it is worth whatever someone will pay. It all depends on the local market situation at the time for firearms.

I am a bit scared of even getting a medium-weight sporter after carrying a T3x for hunting on foot.

I want an unbreaked magnum so prob best to go heavier than a mountain rifle, and go a 7mm for less kick.
My shooting skills come from going up one step at a time, I feel, but I will jump the 30-06 as we are not allowed to have too many guns.

There is a hell of a lot of "strangeness" that happens upon your phone when you put something in the net for sale.

Mate had a Tikka heavy barrel in 223 that was two years old. Sold it on consignment through the local gunshop for $1200.

Yeah, I almost decided on the nice new CZ model that comes in 30-06.
In an ideal world, I could stalk with a 30-06 and get a 7mm mag or PRC for the more dedicated longer range shooter.
Likely sit and shoot a Fallow on the more open forest hills that have been harvested or clearings.
Small steps like 300m, then work up to 400. I practice on small plates at 500m so 400 is a nice aiming point.
Both cals would do both purposes, but I keep leaning back to the fast 7mm for its longer, flatter shooting, and it would kill bigger critters at closer ranges well.

I don't even have a .308, or a .243. I have 2- 6.5s and they sort of cover all that range.
I like some of those 6mm cartridges, but we are not allowed gun numbers, like golf clubs.
