i should've been clearer , by handed in , i mean taken to the local gun shop and decommissioned . old mate worked at shoesmith's in toowoomba back in the day , and they got a few of these old savages handed in . so they cut off the barrels and sent the receivers on apparently .refitted the barrels onto martini cadets mostly . such was the story i got from mr kent in toowoomba .
i've told you i worked at bradken runcorn foundry . old hands that worked there told me about tip trucks turning up with escorts , dumping their loads , and under constant supervision , they were picked up with the electro magnet on the overhead crane and melted down
