See a few of these kicking around fairly cheap, are they any good? Match 54 rear locking action i think..
Anyone with real world experience with them??

i really like these rifles, haven't owned one , but looked into them a lot research wise . hand loaded they can be extremely accurate . i thought about getting one and loading it to hornet levels . 222 is a longer lasting case than a hornet . being a rear locker they won't take hotter loading . firing pins in these centrefire versions of the 54 action are prone to breakage and impossible to find, apparently . magazines are like rocking horse poo. very fine rifles though , the collector in me wants one , but my practical side slaps him up the side off the head . i've handled one that's for sale at cleaver, very nice. i love the 222

Yeah...they seem cheap, for these reasons i think. By the look of it, they would painfull to rebarrel too

I bought a 1531 new in 1965 - Paid 66 guineas for it with a Hillver bridge mount and a 6X33 Jap scope.
That rifle was very accurate and served me well for decades.
Sometime this century, I had it re-barrelled - These barrels were pressed and pinned but I had the action trued and threaded - No problems with the barrel installation.
I sold this rifle along with a heap of other European guns a few years ago following a serious cancer diagnosis.
The new owner broke a firing pin but I had sold him a factory spare!
Stick to factory loads or mild hand loads and these were great rifles.

bloody bewdiful rifle allan . european high end rifles typically are "old world" pieces of art .i handled one at cleavers and the balance and ergonomics were perfect . i had a 1947 brno 21H years ago in 8x60 mauser, lovely light weight carry rifle with excellent build quality . but a set trigger on a 8x60 isn't practical . swore i wouldn't buy another collectable . if i could find a annie 54 action in 22 mag i'd probably weaken though

I guess my attraction is the M54 action, i shot one in smsllbore 22lr competition for years, beautiful! Sold them.off when the club folded....
