Works been hectic. I finally found the time to get away. Been out cent q for 3 nights Had flat tyre on e bike first night up in the paddocks Also made a huge number of sloppy stupid mistakes. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Very rusty. I was hoping it was just the first night excitement but I was just as bad on the second night. On the third night I noticed I was mostly returning to form. So far 14 pigs two foxes and one cat. We also got five pigs with the dogs when I went for a day hunt with some local kids. I have not dogged for years. I was worried about having a heart attack from physical exertion and also felt that if I did die at least I died having fun. It was great and I felt great the whole time I never even got puffed , good dogs. On the third night the wind was howling so much it nearly blew me off my bike. The new e bike was a huge success. Not once did I scare away a mob of pigs like I do when I’m on the quad bike . I do t know yet if I’m here for one week or two or three. I’ll try to post a couple of pics.

You mentioning scaring pigs off when you were on the quad,, Was it a single cylinder job.
In the past I have found single cylinders (especially the larger cube ones) seem to upset the wildlife much more so than a quiet twin cylinder.

It’s a 520 eps cf moto. Def heaps more noisy than my little 250 c Honda. Not sure if it’s single cylinder or not. I got another boar and fox since my last post. Back at camp for a meal break and top up the charge in all my devices.

So, Yes it is a single thumper Mate, which just sorta confirms what I'd observed quite a while ago.
The wild life seem to really dislike the output of them.

Good boar. We have a CF Moto sxs, and deliberatey bought the 800 twin over the single cylinder. I knew about the single cylinder "thumper" noise already from previous experience, and the larger sized twin cylinder engine is much quieter. Aspecially after I added a second muffler.

I learned my lesson about the 4 stroke single many years ago. Thump thump thump travels a long way in the bush. Pigs running away from us we did not even see, but others did. I have also witnessed how two stroke engines are the exact opposite. Ride right up to pigs without them moving. We also had a Suzi Stockman and the old two stroke was the same compared to a diesel Toyota. You could stand on the track watching the Suzy drive towards you, and it was stunning how close it would get before you heard it. Toyota you could hear a long way off.

The test I did with the SXS was a 600 single and the older model 800 twin. Sit in the seat and the 600 sounded quieter than the rattly twin 800 for sure. Walk twenty metres away, and you could hear the 600, thump thump thump, and the twin did not.

I concur with Shayne,, on the property we had before selling up, the front half was sparsely treed and the single thumper I had was a 650 Yamaha Grizzly.
The moment I started riding it,, everything would scatter.
It was possible to see about 400 meters through the trees, and not only pigs, but also the roos would up and go.

Whoever invented the big singles certainly did no favors for hunters.

Sounds like a trip that will stick with you even though things didn't go perfectly at first. It's cool how fast you got back into the groove after a few days especially after not doing dog hunting for such a long time. The e-bike also seems to have worked out than you thought it would. Sometimes the unexpected parts of a trip in the outdoors turn into the memories. Happy you got to take a break, from work and had a time.
