An extremely close vote on an amendment (to add caps) in a Lower House bill. Tipped by the vote of one independent who, despite being emotionally torn by the testimony of (very biased and openly anti gun) advocacy and medical bodies, voted against caps because he did not see them being of any benefit to public health and safety while impinging on the ability and rights of firearms owners to compete in their sports, control pests, hunt, and humanely destroy livestock.
He is a very kind and gentle man who cares deeply about the Tasmanian people and he was in tears as he delivered his speech, pulled strongly in both directions.
Labor members saw it fit to bully this man after he made his statement, calling him by name as they spouted about how disappointed and disgusted they were in his decision. Sickening.

I would like to know, because I would take the time to write to him and congratulate him for being a decent human being, and please not to feel at all bullied by those obviously lower forms of human being than the cowards hiding behind privilege that bullied him.
Australia needs less cowards, and more leaders like this bloke has proven to be. What a champoin.

My limited understanding of the situation tells me that the difference in NSW is that the laws have already been passed. So any change there, can only happen if any of the bills that ask for repeal of the laws are supported in parliament. With Labor and Green numbers that seems unlikely, but you never know. However, if you are following any of the MP's involved, what we already know as firearm owners, is now coming out. The policies are poorly written, no accountability yet as to why the licenece was issued, and costs are not properly funded etc. So perhaps a repeal bill clould be suported by Nats and Libs but who knows. This big chance for change seems to be at the next election, as some rural Labor MP's are nervous about keeping their seats.

Time will tell. But the election comes before any requirement to conform to new laws, so perhaps NSW residents will be saved by it.
