Martini Cadet Scope

I am looking at sporterizing a Martini Cadet, possible caliber 32-20, 22 hornet or 17 hornet. I would prefer a scope over iron sights, the only scope option is a scout style scope with the mounts on the barrel.

Has anyone used this arrangement?

Not on a Martini, but I have used a 2-7x Scout scope on some milsurps. I struggle with using it in the field but it's fine for shooting off a bench. In the field I tend to be trying to look around the scope rather than through it, but with sufficient time spent on it I would think I could adapt.

You could look at making an offset mount to move the scope to the left of centre to leave room for feeding and ejection. The chamberings you mention are all relatively short-range so the offset wouldn't be significant. Zero the windage at your maximum intended range and it will group slightly to the left at intermediate distances. If you offset the scope 20mm, and zero at 200m, your group centre would be 10mm to the left of point of aim at 100m. Making the mount is easy, a short length of aluminium T-section screwed to the side of the receiver, and a short picatinny rail screwed on top of that.
