Alcohol and corrosion

High % alcohol, air and steel = hmm?

Can I leave spirits in a hip flask for a few weeks or months if it gets that long without drama or will it rust? Not sure what the alcohol content does for the equation?

Had a pewter hip flask of dads I only just opened it after around 30 years since he died, it was about half filled with scotch. Poured the scotch into a glass and it was cloudy and certainly not fit to drink, flask seems like it washed up fine.
Not sure how other metals would react.

to the op, oxidization requires strangely enough...Oxygen,

when the scotch or Midori (if that's your thing) is bottled it's sealed so there's no gas exchange. think about wine and if it's opened it starts to "go off" the liquid starts to oxidize and i'd say it would be the same with your scotch and the air in the flask

I've left stainless flasks with spirits in them for months with no corrosion to be seen.
