Bolting rifle safe into shed in Victoria

So we have just invested in a new gun safe meets all requirements.. blah blah blah.

My question is I was going to store it in my shed bolted down but after doing some reading on this forum and over the net apparently I could be done for inproper storage because it's in a shed. Is this true ? I'm based in Victoria aswell guys.

When I was in Vic, mine was in the shed. I had an inspection and the copper didn't even comment on it.

Best thing to do is to call Licencing Services and ask though!

You're not required to store it inside the house itself.

Garages, and sheds can be acceptable.

How's the rest of the security?

Access to the shed? Shed construction? Tools in the shed that could be used to break into it?

I'm in NSW and the cops told me it was OK in my garage. Loxson bolts into the concrete floor and into the brick wall. and tucked into a corner to make it hard to get a chain around it.

Similar feedback via a mate...

He has his in his garage. Regular roller door, faces onto the street, no alarm in it etc. Safe is bolted in good and proper though and the cop made no mention of it when he had an inspection 6-9 months ago or thereabouts.

I suspect that is where people come undone with storing in their shed.

Even if the shed isn't a fortress (which most aren't obviously) if you've bolted your safe to the brick and concrete you can reasonably argue you took all reasonable steps to secure your firearms.

If you do the same but your shed is full of crowbars, grinders or cutting equipment... Good luck arguing your way out of that I guess.
