Genuine reason for A/B license

Post by Clarkey » 17 Nov 2014, 9:59 pm

So I'm currently in process of applying for my license (Victoria) and just wanna check that this will be okay for genuine reason. My friend has a farm and I will have a letter from his dad saying I can hunt etc. Basic question is , I've written in form "need 223 caliber for hunting larger game and vermint management of farm ". Will that be okay as a reason to get my 223 ?

Second question is me and my friend getting license at same time and we've got a safe but will it be okay for both of us to store our guns in the one safe once we have them , most ofoft mates said should be fine but thought I would ask here .

Cheers guys

That should work for a .223 if you have the permission letter and the property is large enough. Just don't try and knock off a deer if you see one with that calibre. Not enough grunt and illegal. Suggest getting Game Licence as well but you will need more grunt for deer.

As for the safe shouldn't be a drama if the firearms are registered to that same address. You will get an inspection at some stage. Don't give anyone else access to it unless they are licenced for the firearms contained within.
Browning BL-22 lever action...open sights
T3 Varmint .204 Ruger...Meopta Meostar 4-16X44
T3 Lite .30-06 Sprg...Aimpoint Hunter 1X red dot

....that will do me

Samba deer not enough grunt, but yes to fallow
plenty of grunt but I hear it's illegal in VIC
I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

That would have done it. A mate of mine just got license 1 or 2 months ago and wrote the same thing.

Just one word.

I just put "HUNTING" for A&B. No explanation beyond that was required.

I put Hunting on mine, but also sent a copy of my rate notice to show I have >5acres. Might be an idea to include that too with the letter stating permission.
