QLD Petition to end the PTA!

Post by 1290 » 25 Nov 2014, 1:00 pm

This petition is an official QLD govt petition, sponsored by an MP, proposed by Ron Owen....

If you're a QLDer, get onto it...maybe the dominoes will start falling in Queensland as a first state.....

https://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/apps/Epetitions/CurrentEPetition.aspx?PetNum=2339&lIndex=-1

Closing date is 9/2/2015, dont wait till then...468 so far.....

Text:

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that since 1997 there has been a duplicate imposition of fees, application forms and time wasted by licensed shooters, licensed firearm dealers and government employees. The Weapons Act 1990 already prescribes licence fees, 28 day waiting period and investigations on genuine need for all categories of firearms.

Section 35(1)(c) states a person may acquire a weapon, if the person acquires the weapon under other lawful authority (Licence 49A), justification or excuse. This section has been used by licensed dealers to register and swap firearms for warranty since 1997, to register firearms to licenced shooters in the successful 2013 amnesty and to register firearms that are exchanged for similar firearms of the same category.

Currently, the Queensland Police Service imposes a duplicate provision under the Weapons Act 1990 for people who have not yet received a licence in the correct category under section 35(1)(b) which requires a Permit to Acquire (PTA).

Weapons dealers are required to register the firearms to the person either under section 35(1)(b) or (c) then report this to the Weapons Licensing Branch within 14 days.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to support the Government's commitment to reduce red tape by immediately instructing the Queensland Police to cease the duplication of an unnecessary imposition of the PTA system and allow licensed shooters to acquire the firearms in the category they are licensed for.

Good job fellas; 468 to 665 in a day or so,

Qlders, tell all your shooting mates, and ANY shooters you encounter in your travels, in the bush, on the land, at the range...

I wonder what number of petitioners would convince the legislators to take notice... and take action...

@@@mods, can we sticky?@@@

I have no problem signing this petition but my question is what will they replace it with :?: :?: :?: I mean their raising revenue here at $36-00 a throw so they will be robbing Peter to pay Paul somewhere here and we will have a win here but end up paying a $50-00 somewhere else IMHO

Maybe they'll bring in bicycle registration......

Just sign and don't ask questions, how often has a proposal to defy and wind back the national firearm agreement actually reached parliament, don't forget to get everyone you know to sign, they don't need to be shooters....

We need to get rid of as much red tape crap as we can for this reason.

There is never enough for the pollies and antis, then they'd have nothing to do with themselves.

They'll just keep heaping more rules, processes and regulations on until there is nothing left.

Come on guys, hit this petition, and kindly ask any Queenslanders you know to hit it too, shooters and non-shooters alike,

Explain to them it proposes the ending of unnecessary red-tape, bureaucracy and expense for licensed shooters to lawfully purchase firearms that they are already licensed to purchase.

Note; should the PTA get rolled in one state... it will make it a hell of a heap easier to do the same in the other states.... VIC, NSW.... PTA free!

Just imagine walking into a dealer with your valid / current firearm licence and buying a firearm... without the ridiculous additional discretionary permit issued by a bunch of bureaucrats.... and of course a bunch of sworn officers who in their heart of hearts believe it's more important to restrict the activities of lawful firearm owners than to chase the un-lawful firearm owners....bless them for saving us from ourselves....

anyhoo, Hope all had a merry Christmas, now telephone, email or facetime(if you must) you QLD mates and acquaintances.. ,
