I'd just say get a good torch.

LED lenser?

Modern traditional size handhelds put out a lot of light these days. Everyone I know who's tried the "power drill" style of torches cracked it with carrying them around and ditched them.

There are far superior LED torches than LL available these days, Check out http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/forum.php they even have a dedicated section where you can ask for recommendations.

If you are considering a HID light, keep in mind they take thirty seconds or so to reach full brightness.

The don't like being flashed on and off repeatedly.

You can buy a Ryobi HID light from Bunnings for a lot less. http://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18 ... y_p6210342

Uses standard Ryobi 18V One + batteries, great if you already have other Ryobi tools.

More about the Ryobi http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/sho ... 5W-18V-HID

I've got the Led Lenser P17R and it's the best torch I've had. It's the full size one like the original Mag Lites.

Cradle to store and recharge it, hands in the garage nice. The battery lasts for ever anyway.

Bright, good throw, tough as nails.
