The ram is 7/8th diameter, takes standard shell holders and has 70mm of travel. Had the handle knob in my useful box. The ram and handle are balanced - more good luck than good management!

Cast and machined the toggle part today. Linkage rods are 20 x 5 flat. Pins and bolts are 8mm.

That's awesome Noisydad.

Bit hard to tell how much time I put in because I had to make the wooden patterns and the extra long 7/8th x 14 thread tap. Then I did a 4 test casts to find out where shrinkage occurred so as to work out where to put the pouring sprue and feed risers in the sand mould to stop it. I did parts for another and expect that will take about 2/3rds as much time and 3rd one would take less than half the time and so on as better ways of setting up and machining are thought of. Have had experience in prototype development before though that that was with cattle handling gear, front end loaders, loader implements etc.

Ok, here it is, in all it's dubious glory - my new home made press finished and in use loading 40-65W cartridges for my big Pedersoli Sharps.

On the left is a 415gn cast bullet. Centre is a 17HMR case for comparison. On the right is finished round for my 40-65 Sharps comprising 57gn Swiss 1 1/2 BP and a 415 cast bullet.

You should have cast in "Noisy Mk I" like the commercial ones have "LEE" or "RCBS"

Dammit! Didn't think of putting a name on it and I've already cast the parts for no.2

What's next? Some wood work I think. I need a set of cross sticks and little stool to use when long range shooting with the Sharps. May even have a crack at carving the cross sticks with a traditional design similar to what you see on those right purdy muzzle loaders.
