DIY Scent Blocker

just wanted to share... i made this scent blocker and dam, it works!!!!:

To test it, i spent a day working in the yard without deodorant and with really thick socks and boots on... and let me tell you, I stank soooo much it wasn't funny! lol. the wife refused to talk to me until i had a shower... but i didn't have a shower!, i just sprayed my pits and feet, then went back for another wife test.. ...and... i passed!

it ZERO's any stank u have! (well beyond my expectations!). I also used it on hunt trip last week and i'm very impressed!

anyway, just wanted to share, as this stuff costs a bucket load (up to $55) if you buy a brand product from the gun shop, but costs you very little to make! (about $5 bucks a litre, which will last you a looong time). u can get the hydrogen peroxide from a super market or from a pharmacy (cheaper from pharmacy as its greater volume) and usually distilled water from a super market (IGA had it, but Woolworth didn't) and of course, baking soda is in all super market shops.

I have used (for many years) a mixture of Eucalyptus and Ti Tree oil. 50 / 50
Just dab it on skin or clothes. Preferably before you already stink.

It is quite pleasant, and the scent carries on the wind.
Its effect simply overpowers the normal human scent, and replaces it with one that what your hunting isn't alarmed by.

well i did develop a twitch and my left arm fell off, but apart from that i'm good...

but seriously.. the 3% hydrogen peroxide is actually what "old timers" used on wounds, cuts and grazes. you can still buy it in the supermarket (coles etc) for that purpose today. it doesn't bleach clothes and is very harmless. it is cheaper though from chemists as the bottles are larger for similar price.

by the way, i didn't wash/bathe myself with it. My batch is in a spray bottle and i just spray it on body, clothes and pits, feet etc. it does leave a white residue if the water pools (from the bi-carb soda), but doesn't bleach. i had no white marks on my clothes, but one left on the bench where the spray bottle was.

Is it better than straight bicarb and water? If so, why?

the hydrogen peroxide is what kills the bacteria (bacteria in your pits is the reason why they stank, not the sweat!!)
bi-carb then prevents future smells from occurring as it absorbs the smell
hydrogen peroxide is supposedly safe to use as a mouth wash... although i don't know enough about it to confirm that !!
i'm not claiming to be an expert by any means, but from what i understand its a very safe chemical.

Dunno really, but I guess 1) because it works, and: 2) because where I used to predominantly hunt was 50% Eucalypt bush, and 50% Tea Tree undergrowth.

Never thought about changing it since as it still works where I am now.

Hey Westy ol mate...

The ute might stink, but if your using my Euca/T tree mix.. you will smell fine.

Just watch out for over exuberant and amorous female koalas
