It was a bit of a incognito name there for a bit..

With the rimfire ill be plinking, target shooting and small stuff hunting, if i got the remington it would be for target shooting and big stuff hunting.

So i sorta gather not many people like the remingtons

Ive never looked into the Tikka rifles before but the last couple days i have been.... and a few have caught my eye..

Tikka T3 Hunter Stainless Fluted

Tikka T3 Laminate Stainless

Whats the laminate like on the stocks? does it look cheap?

Remington have had their ups and downs.

Years ago they were the one to get, more recently they've been getting flak for quality control issues or accuracy problems. In around mid 2000's I think?... something changed and recent makes have been hit and miss.

Some report a great rifle out of the box, others needed bedding, floating, trigger work.... All to just bring them back to what they should be.

Take it with a grain of salt and decide for yourself, but it's a common enough conversation across the various shooting places on the web so worth acknowledging.

Not pushing the barrow for Tikka here but they are definitely a good rifle. You can just about be guaranteed they'll shoot 3/4" groups straight out of the box with the right ammo.

No, the laminate is good.

Synthetic is the normal black plastic which isn't really great on any brand.

The Hunter Stainless Fluted comes in a timber stock and that is nice.

Ive really liked Remington for years.... way before i had a licence. It now is kinda upsetting as more and more people are turing away from them and going to other brands but if its a hit and miss product i dont blame them...

I don't know what the exact material is, some composite.

They're smooth like a plastic, but not flimsy like synthetic stocks. Feels very solid, good, in your hands.

Just doesn't have the same 'feel' to it as walnut, know what I mean?

Honestly go and have a feel of one, that's worth a thousand words.

G'day just introducing myself All I'm New to this forum and have a relatively new interest in Rifles.
I'm not new to them, only starting to get really keen recently I'm a farmer from NW Victoria i'm 24 married with an 8 month old son.
i have a Howa 1500 Heavy Barrel in .308 with a 5-15x40 Bushnell elite tactical the axiom stock (ugly) but shoots pretty good.
i also just ordered a new M70 Winnie featherweight in .22-250
