Brain fart

Post by Blu333 » 16 Dec 2014, 10:30 am

I am in the process of buying my first second hand rifle.

I have received the PTA and noticed I have taken the PTA in the name of the brokering dealer as the disposer and not the current registered owner of the firearm. :? :x

Is there anyway i can get around this or do I just apply in another one? I am in Queensland if that makes any difference.

I know out of state advice is sometimes useless but...

I had an error on a PTA a while back, and the dealer just amended the existing permit.

Didn't do a knew one. Tour dealers can do the same you'd think?

Ring FAR and see what the go is, you're better off getting the info off those who make the rules. ;)

Why do you need to put info in about who is selling the rifle?

Isn't that filled out when you take ownership at your LGS?

I thought the PTA application is about what it is without specifics about serial number or seller, UNTIL it is going in your name.

I had a serial number wrong on a registration doc of mine.

Called up and they fixed it on the phone for me.

Took it to LGS on next visit and they updated their books.

No probs.

Is the firearm being posted to the dealer or is the seller meeting you at the dealers?

If the firearm is being mailed to your dealer, your dealer then becomes the disposer because the seller takes the firearm to his dealer who puts it on his books and mails it to your dealer who than puts it onto his books.

In Queensland that's not quite true but the dealer will normally do this for you at a co$t to you!!!!!! :drinks: :friends:

What's a transfer cost in QLD?

It's about $15 - $20 here in VIC but someone was saying in NSW their dealer changed them $150 for one!

I think it's like $50-00 for one here but a lot of the time they won't charge you....
