PPU ammuniton

Hi guys,

Anyone experienced with PPU ammunition?

My LGS is stocking it now and price is cheap. Looking for a backup factory option if handloads run out or cant get pills or powder for a while, which seems to be a problem for a few these days

I'd like to get at least 1 1/4 MOA out of it.

How's it shot for you?

The powder is a dirty s**t of a thing but it does shoot alright!!!! PPu = highland

PPU is Prvi Partizan in Serbia . With any of these cheap brands I would clean the gun well after each use because you can never be sure how corrosive they are or are not . You have to just try some because your gun might like them or hate them .

I've had some in 7.5x55 and can say the powder is very dirty, the brass is good for reloading though.

I usually start with this ammo (highland) to get a good stock of brass and then reload it, it's always shot well and reloaded just great. Highland/PPU 9.3x62 ammo is cheaper than new brass.

You mean Highland = PPU.

I don't think it's still available here as HL..... it was good stuff, shot plenty of 300 and 375 and the brass is great. Smokey means less chemical additives so it's better for you (not that I noticed extra smoke).

Yep, I ran the .243W in with Highland and PPU. Shoots well but found it a bit 'dirty" but so what, you still have to clean the barrel no matter what. you use.

I have a few boxes aside for my .308 which is the 'backup rifle'.

150gr soft points.

Shoots inch-ish. Haven't noticed the dirty shooting but have barely used it to be honest.

Only shot it enough to zero in before everything went in the safe for a later day.

Annealed at around fifteen loads, neck sized mostly until they start to stick which for the sake of posterity I have been giving them a light bump at 5 reloads.

The most impressive lot have never been bumped, annealed or full length sized at all and are at 35 currently. But there is a trick to it.

Yep up there With the Big W have a couple of hundred 6.5 x 55's that have been fired who knows how many times and they still keep coming back for more !!!!!

Shot 2 shots on the weekend with the .308 PPU to confirm zero, cleaning the rifle after it was as dirty as doing a few dozen rounds of hand loads with 2208.

Shoots good enough, but definitely dirty.

I find 2208 to be a bit dirty at times compared to 2206, 2206H and 2209.

2208 is still my favorite.

I had a brief foray with 2206H in the .308, wouldn't give the accuracy 2208 gave though.

Testing my memory now but I vaguely remember my .243 running relatively cleanly with 2209 handloads. Rifle gone now.

My 7mm is my do-it all rifle these days and loves 2208 with the 120gr and 140gr pills.
