45-70 Brass

GDay all , New member so go easy on me !

Been having all sorts of trouble getting hold of new 45-70 brass.

Finally tracked down some , Never heard of the brand though.

Praetorion Tactical , Reasonable price , Abuot $1.00 a case.

Anyone use these and could let me know if they are up to scratch.

Most 45-70 brass is fairly soft and thin, and is generally loaded in light loadings anyway. The action in many lever actions is likely to fail before the brass its been widely written, so I wouldn't worry about the margin of safety so much.

I'd give it a go.

Will be used in a single shot sporting rifle so nothing to heavy.

I think (could be wrong) it's the same brass but sometimes branded as OSA in their factory ammo.

Not for 45-70 but I've used Praetorian Tactical .308 brass and it was quite accurate/consistent.

Looking at one gunshops website they list a few different calibers in that brand with some listed as manufactured by PPU (makes highland) and others hornady or starline.

Yep.

Loads for the older trapdoor 45-70's are 5gr-10gr less than modern levers.

Hard to keep track of brands.

I know ADI make ammo for a few different companies.

All comes off the same line, just a different label and price tag on the box.

Yeah highland/Prvi partizan is Serbian made.

The PPU ammo seems decent for cheap factory ammo.

I have a box of 150gr at the moment for my backup .308 and get inch groups from it.

More than enough for hunting and 50% cheaper than the others on the shelf.
