My brains in fine working order today.
Just spend the last couple of minutes rubbing the thread with my fingers and blowing dust out of the socket and all sort of other useless things on trying to put a screw into the top of a scope ring.

I was walking past some blokes at work struggling with the nut for a tow ball on the back of the car. They were talking about getting a big pipe as the nut must be rusted / stuck. After watching them struggle for a few minutes I asked why they were trying to tighten the nut. Hahaha, a few embarresd blokes . Lefty loosely, righty tightly works even if the nut is upside down.
