Our $ is almost on par with N.Z and dropping to 0.7585 with the U.S overnight and falling. I've been to 4 different gun shops in the past week and the common theme seems to be less and less stock on shelves.

It baffles me.... the USA is going to the crapper... its craphole of an economy has been talked-up incessantly, yet our comparatively good economy (yes, it is) hasnt stopped the slide of our dollar as valued against the USD....

As is plain to see, the Reserve Bank has dropped the rates for the sole purpose of de-valuing the Aussie dollar further TO INCREASE EXPORT VALUE OF DIRT.....hoping to at least stop the slide in excise income levels . The MAJOR side effect is however, given that WE ARE CONSUMERS of SOLELY IMPORTS - SO IT HITS US! including at the gunshop,

So yes. Buy up.

The only good thing about a low Aussie dollar is that it keeps us dairy farmers afloat, on the years where the Aussie dollar is high times will be bloody tough for us

Know where you're coming from Nuke! Glad to have got out it before the 1.5mill expansion happened. I was a phone call away from giving the concreter the go ahead.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

I won't be complaining about the price of ammo for a while, A good mate gave me 2 big flour bags full of 12 gauge reloads lastnight in appreciation for my help in controlling his rabbit population.

That's what many people are unaware of.

For our primary producers to compete against produce (excluding mining, but, might be so; I'm not an economics guru) that's heavily subsidized by overseas governments, our dollar has to become a peso.

As pointed out in another post, when our dollar does get close our reaches parity with the USD, our toys and ammo don't drop in price. Sure, a business needs to profit, but, without customers, what happens then?

So not being in the dairy game..... does the farmer with say, 50 or 200 milkers actually see any change in his farm gate contract rate per litre? I doubt it according to published info. At the time of US$:AU$ the farmgate price was 37.8c/L, presently around 50c/L.... will there be a flow through where the rate goes to a third under the parity time rate? I doubt very strongly, farmers would be driving through the doors at Parliament House!! Or preferably driving the manure spreaders through the cities Euro style!!

A devalued Aussie dollar hinders a great deal more than it helps.... us 'common people' anyway

Even reloading isn't what I'd call "cheap" these days.
