Only found out when I tried to buy a part, and now I have to re apply.
My father has possession of my rifles for safe keeping while I wait. The worst thing is that I was going to compete in NZ soon but will have to make it next year instead.

An update for anyone interested. I got a phone call from the weapons mob asking me to write a letter of permission stating that I give myself permission to shoot on my own place. ..Seriously.
So as ridiculous as it is, I did and my license is approved.

Currently taking 5 weeks. So that is one week in reality plus the 4 weeks sit in the file period.

My wife is on a plane from O/S so when she gets off the plane there will be an email to bring a smile to a weary face. Mind you business class should not make her that weary!! (green with envy)

Hi guys, I'm going to do my firearms safety course this month and was wondering if you can apply for licence and PTA at the same time? Also do you have to apply for an exact firearm or do you submit a PTA and choose the firearm later?

You can apply for a PTA the same day you apply for you licence. It's the best way to do it as the minimum 28 day waiting periods run in parallel.

the PTA doesn't need to be for a specific firearm if you're buying new from a dealer, just need to put in the dealer, calibre, action type. If you're buying from another person you do need to put the serial number from memory.

Seems your location set wrong in your profile Pyro.

Says you're in Victoria.

You can update it in your account on the 'profile' tab :)

I think you need to phone and be very patient and try buttering up the nice lady that often answers the phone……..

I usually start with something like…..I am really sorry to bother you with something I may have screwed up but I need your help. The last three words as well as being willing to admit you may have messed up usually gets you a long way, especially if they stuffed up, because they then feel more obliged to help.

Does not always work, but usually it does.

Hope this helps!

They say allow 10 business days for the licence to arrive, I imagine like so many other bits of plastic I carry….they take some time to be produced, shipped and then hopefully QA'd before sending. Two weeks vanishes pretty quickly like that.

I hope you get yours soon. Post the result!
I will be after a H version later in the year…..patience….. I am not impatient…I just want it now, if I was impatient I would have wanted it yesterday!

Just a gripe here maybe, still stupid you have to wait 2 weeks for a permit when you're already licensed for the thing :problem:

Received my licence today. WLB here in QLD told me they would fax my PTA to the LGS on the 20th of this month when i spoke to them on the 2nd of this month. Now if i call them tomorrow and quote my licence number, is there any hope in hell that they would fax it tomorrow? Thoughts....
