Solar farm in A.C.T. not going ahead

Post by 1290 » 24 Mar 2015, 9:49 am

I'm flabbergasted at this...

A solar farm was knocked back in the ACT, the residents apparently in an adjacent 'village' were fighting against it....theyre of course environmentalists but SIMPLY DIDNT WANT IT where they could SEE IT!!!

Why? It would disturb their view of someone else's property of course. Unbelievable.

Yes, we all want to save the world from ourselves, but somewhere else, hey, NOT IN MY BACK YARD
F$%^&%$ NIMBYs

ABC interview to resident;

You must be ecstatic?
Over the moon!!

^over the moon because a huge solar farm, replacing countless tons of hydrocarbon use, but theyre over the moon.... I feel like I have woken in a parallel universe, I'm no environmentalist, I do however support finding alternative cheap energy sources...

So;
the wind turbines hurt the birds and make noise.
The coal/steam or gas turbines emit nasty carbon (like we exhale, but dont go there)
Nuclear power emit nothing during generation BUT will kill all life on earth as we know it

Then what are we to do to satisfy these tards? learn to live without electricity perhaps.

This reminds of people who think "you should buy your meat from the supermarket where they make it and no animals are killed"

Maybe they think they're getting their power the same way. The power company makes it in some mysterious unexplained perpetual energy style way.

Clean at their house, must be clean at the source too.

Clean Energy :?: Sure is :!: I can't see any stains around my power sockets.
NIMBYs & Greens are totally delusional, they just don't see their own hypocrisy.
Yes they DO want US to live in caves not them though, same as not in my back yard mentality
Most also believe the Free Energy is being kept secret by governments etc and believe in Perpetual motion and airy fairy over unity generators and it's possible to run cars on water.
Well at least the last one is true, you can run cars on water
Split Water into Hydrogen and Oxygen and you can do it.
Pity it takes 100x the energy to split the water than it would to just run the car directly, but don't tell anyone that :silent:
Believe only the bits that you want to believe and totally deny the rest.
I somehow think Darwin got it wrong when it comes to the human race, how do these people survive?

Know a bloke who's something of an inventor (well a LOT actually) who has run a car on H produced from water split by electrolysis under the bonnet. Of course you don't get any form of energy for free and the cost of his system was lots and lots of burned out, highly modified alternators that were needed to produce enough current to break down enough water to run the thing. Awesome idea though and I would if I could!
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Ultimately greenies are anti human.

We have seen it down here-

No dams- use environmentally friendly wind farms
Then no wind farms as they are environmentally damaging

No old growth forests use plantation timber
Then plantation timber is evil and should be banned

We want more wilderness areas for people to enjoy
Now it is ban people from wilderness areas as true wilderness doesn't have people.

The epitome of hypocrisy :this week the Greens leader Kim Booth called for a ban on all commercial tourism in national parks when a few years ago he was running tours, also he used to be a logger and sawmill operator and his son still is.

The basterds make me sick and they usually harness city yuppie power to their own end.

The beauty of solar is that it's modular so the more panels you put up, the more generation capacity you can create. Obviously you need supporting infrastructur but technically speaking, there's nothing stopping someone with land and sunshine from investing in a heap of panels themselves. And if a small community gets together and funds a medium sized outfit they could benefit from the generation produced by their very own micro plant.

The only sticking point is money (obviously) and storage so you can use generation once the sun goes down.

We should stick them all on bicycles to generate power until they come up with or accept a better idea

Environmentalism isn't the problem. I've got respect for any rational environmentalist who's looking for pragmatic ways to improve things.

Let's not confuse that with being a nufty do-gooder Greenie like you've got here.

rational
That’s the key word and it seems that it's becoming a scarce commodity.

Agree with the last few posts.

There is a difference between being 'green' and being 'a Green'.
What is this "too many rifles" you speak of?
