wssm- winchester, super, short, magnum. It is exactly that a short, fat, .223 magnum.
It won't fit in your .223. Only use ammo that corresponds to what's stamped on your rifle, like .223rem.
Marlin XT22 .22lr, Ruger M77/22 .22wmr, Rem 7615 .223, Ruger M77 .223, Weatherby MarkV .243, Rem 700 VLS .243, Kimber Montana .270, Weatherby MarkV .270Wby mag, Rem 700 .308, Khan ATac 12ga.

Yeah, different case all together, 2mm shorter than the Rem, 2mm longer overall.
Based on a magnum sized rim/bolt face a opposed to the mini rim size of the rem..

Very hot for a 22 cal, early production rifles burnt barrels out apparently and required chrome lining.

Nope, different round altogether. The 223 WSSM is a necked down 300WSM case to accept a 224 projectile and shortened to case length of 1.670", twist 1-7" to 1-9" and M/V of around 4,600 fps.
The big draw back was the barrel life, around 300 rounds.
I think most if not all of the WSSM cartridges have just slipped out of fashion.

Yeah you're going to have some difficulty chambering that in a .223 Rem

Yeah, but just think at 4,600FPS, This would hit any rabbit or fox that hard, it'd knock 'em into the middle of next week! You'd have to come back and collect them then.
What a rush!!

Could be achievable.

The fastest load ADI quote with a 35gr projectile is 4,439 FPS.

If you were running hotter loads it could be done.

"try" being the operative word there.

I'm going to use my mystical powers of foresight and predict it will end badly.

I would have to wonder about the chances of a 35gn bullet getting far from the barrel at that velocity before it came apart. They are just not really designed for that sort of speed. Sounds like a very pointless way of burning out barrels to me.

Nosler list a MAX. load of 44.5gs. H4895 for 4,568fps so 4,600fps is achievable BUT be very very careful!!

It's a new blood sport, 1 vs 1.

1 person has to load the press while the other tries to take a finger

Does seem like it would be a lot easier/simpler to just get a .243 or similar, something more common.

Seems like velocity for the sake of velocity to me.

But to each their own.
