What shooting stuff did you do on the weekend?

Post by Noisydad » 18 May 2015, 7:16 am

So some went to the SSAA Shot Show. How did that go fellas? Lady Noisy, SoLN and I took part in our monthly BP comp. shoot and apart from 12yo SoLN who took home a big hand full of place cards in spite of getting more and more crook as the day went on, we may as well have thrown gravel at the targets. It just wasn't a happening thing yesterday!

Still doing better than me mate, all I got to do was think about shooting

I'll take a bad day's shooting over not shooting any day

I did manage a little success though. I scored a barely used Lee press for $20 and a double cavity Lee .44-40 bullet mold for $10 from a members trading blanket. Missed a Lyman Lubrisizer that went for $60. Should've grabbed that too.

Nope, penance (just joking).

I shot handguns in the morning and rifles in the afternoon.

Should've stayed at home and watched the V8's instead, on both accounts.

Spend the weekend at the Mudgee meet up shooting rifles and pistols. Tested some .357mag handloads in my 686 and my wife did some load testing with her .223.

Also managed to finally test some loads for pressure in my 7mm wildcat. 139gr Interbonds over a compressed load of 2208 for 2888fps with no pressure signs, time for some 2206H I say :)

Spent the weekend on the press reloading the rounds shot a few weeks back. I get the impression that it takes 4 times longer to reload cases then it does to shoot them. Spent maybe 4 hours of actual shooting and then 16 hours to reload, fortunately I enjoy reloading just as much as the shooting so it's win win for me :)
Shot this over 3 days
34 x .257 Weatherby Mag
25 x .300 Weatherby Mag
30 x .416 Barrett
20 x 50 BMG
4 x 45-70 Govt.

Looking forward to the June long weekend and another hunting trip north :)

Spent Saturday morning shooting out at SSAA Ripley.

Took the 577 Snider along with my 22, 223 and 308. The Lithgow crossover is shooting well now after having it back to Lithgow to fix the bedding. The barrel is actually free floated now.

Would you also like pics of the worms wriggling as they exited my Rottweilers butt ?

Trust me they did happen. :x

Thought I did the right thing by capturing some in a plastic satchel to show the vet. They were just grossed out :unknown:

Head to your pet store, they should do worming tablets and he'll just need a tablet or two to match his body weight.

Hit the LGS and loaded up on goodies including a high quality, South Australian, hand made gun bag made from heavy canvas , thick foam , tough heavy zipper and lined with a heavy weave cotton almost like denim but slightly softer... best quality bag I've ever seen.
Went out hunting at night and bagged a fox, a cat , 2 hares and a rabbit.
Gun control requires concentration and a steady hand
